clt says we should expect to play 2-3 top 25 teams annually in the AC
You control your non-conference schedule. High likelihood we go 1-3 in non-conference in 2026. Must go 5-3 in the AC just to be bowl eligible. Canāt just magically overnight acquire the same level of resources as Memphis just because we are in the same conference.
I do agree with nonconference. We should not have 2 P4 schools even if one is home. We need to win games
Itās tough - if you can get H\H with P4 schools you do it, but we still need the cash game for budget.
Iād prefer the cash game not be top10 programs though.
Can we try to play body bag game against teams we have a remote chance to compete with at least for a half? I give Judy some credit in scheduling games with South Carolina, Illinois, and Indiana (historically bad). Mike scheduled body bag games verse Georgia and Ohio State that live in the top 5 and nobody hardly ever beats.
Donāt expect a winning record next year, but hope to see improvement and competitive games.
I Want to see a team that looks like we belong on the field with the opposing team. Maybe pull off and upset to get some momentum.
Give me 5-7 next year and some close games with good teams and Iāll be happy. I just need to see improvement for Albin to stay.
We pay a FCS game to come into here for what is theoretically a W to offset the loss in a money game at a P4. Scheduling is one of the few things weāve done right, although I would rather play the Miss Stās of the word in buy games instead of the Georgias.
Weāre not going to be able to schedule soft enough to overcome our bad on the field product. We werenāt even really competitive in CUSA at the end of it despite having full recruiting classes and a budget advantage. Fix the structural problems and we have the opportunity for some magical moments.
Like we all know, this is all about money. We have a stadium expansion going on and now NIL. We need money, we have proven we canāt raise it. Would you rather schedule 2-3 Miss Stās or one Georgia/OH St? Miss Stās are going to pay you 900k-1.2, Georgia is going to pay us 1.9. I doubt anyone is going to ding you to much for a loss against GA. In todayās provisional environment of CFB, I view players as one year rentals. What do you do when you lease a car for 12 months, you beat the crap out of that thing. When you turn it back in after 12 months, do you care if itās got some dings and scratches? nope, because you know you will be getting a spanking new one next year. I would schedule 8 body bag games a year if I could.
And you would be wrong imho. Nothing makes people lose interest like being down 35-0 in the first Q. At home, turn the channel. If at the stadium Iām back in the parking lot drinking out of my cooler and not spending $9 on beers.
Fundraise better and maybe we donāt need that Georgia paycheck. These buy games could easily be offset given the city we live in if we had ever monetized it properly.

No kidding. Chicken meet egg. We are not going to get better fundraising results until we put a consistent winning product on the field. We canāt put a consistently winning product on the field with top players because we donāt have the money. We have proven we canāt raise Big money These games are a necessary evil.
Iām not saying donāt play P4. Iām saying donāt play Ala, UGA, OSU, etc.
play Kentucky, Illinois, Wake Forest, Duke, etc. Teams we could be half ass competitive with certain years.
UMass was a FBS independent up until this year. They basically played multiple body bag games a year. Howād that work out for them? UMass might be the only FBS team worse than Charlotte. Fans want to see wins not getting drubbed. College sports taps into the tribal instincts of humans. Fans donāt want to attach themselves to the weakest tribe in the land.
Thatās amongst my least favorite qualities about people, the need to try to attach themselves to a winner, aka being frontrunners
I lived in Boston for some time. Amhurst MA is in the middle of nowhere, 2.5 hrs from Boston. No one is making that drive, even if they were good. 2.5hrs drive in the winter in the South in a lot different than 2.5 hrs in NE winter. People in the Northeast donāt care about college sports. Even the odd year that BC is good, the majority donāt care. I found that to be incredibly odd. That area is ruled by Bruins, Sox and Patās. You know what UMass does have? a nice stadium. They were never going to be successful because of their location. Syracuse is the only CFB program I can think of in the NE that has had success and a true fanbase, and that is a stretch. We can sit here and continue to scream at the AD and he AD Dept to ātry harderā about raising money. Alternatively we play some big boy football at their house and get paid. Then use that money to improve the product so we donāt have to anymore.
Suddenly I feel optimistic. Albin should not be punished or chastised for the hot garbage dumpster Mike Hill had in place for him Year 1. He needs some excitement to sell along with NiL. Maybe instead of paying some search firm, they should speak with guys like Urban Meyer in a frank and open manner to get recommendations for our next AD. Heās an Ohio guy too. I prefer Ohio people to anyone ACC
No one should ask Urban Meyer for advice about anything.
