Athletic Association Annual Fund Drive

Guys, I have recently joined the Athletic Association Board of Directors. As you know, one of the main focuses of the board is the annual fund drive. We are responsible for funding student athletes scholarships as well as other providing for other needs. We have our work cut out for us as usual, and with the possiblity of football looming ahead, i believe that we need to find a way to take our fund raising and university awareness to another level. with that said, I think this board is an unused tool in that drive - and would be an invaluable source for some creative thinking. I have been reading this board and the CUSA Talk board for a number of years. Don’t post a lot, but read pretty much daily. I know there are many members who are genuinely concerned about our university. What are some thoughts - the good, the bad and the ugly.

Sorry if this has been done before, but i don’t remember reading about it in the past.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts and input.

Ask me after the Bot approves Chp’s recommendation for football.

Agreed. If the BOT approves starting a football team, you will have no problems getting money. If they say no, then getting money will be as difficult as winning a greased watermelon contest.

I will definitely be upping my donation if football is approved.

I increased this year’s donation by 5 times what I donated last year. No football, and I’m cutting all the way back to $49 a year.

i also want football and hope that we get it. However, my question is why would you penalize the other student athletes by not joining or giving when they still need scholarships and have no control over football? seems as if there would be a better way to protest a football decision than that.

I would give more if there was ROI. You could give a couple grand per year and still not get better hoops tickets and have noseblead seats at Halton. Why? too many students occupy the lower bowl. I like the idea of some select kids being near the action, but they take way too much of the lower seating making it impossible to get nice seats.

Because that is the only way to get the point across. It sucks, but donating money is the one voice that we all have and will be listened to.
