The UNC Charlotte Alumni Office has gone live with an updated web site and more importantly, the Niner Connection, an online community that is similar to Facebook but has some additional features. You can develop your own page that can actually become your computer’s home page with enough tinkering. All you need to do is register at http://unccharlottealumni.org and click on “First Time Login” in the upper right corner. Follow the instructions to register and then invite your alumni friends to join. It’s easy and will become a great asset once the data base starts filling. Several of us have been playing for a couple of weeks on it.
Secondly, they are also putting event updates on Twitter. The address is http://twitter.com/49erAlumni. That went live today as well.

by the true definition of alumnus, yes. Alumnus simply means that you were once a member of a college, school, or university. I highly doubt the school considers non-graduates alumnus however. I graduated and I’m not even on there yet.

Recent grads (2007-2009) have not been purged from the system as students yet. The dump will be made with the Harris Directors folks and likely late in the summer to get the most recent grads.
Be patient, you know changes don’t come quickly on this campus!
If you graduated last week, you will not be in the new Niner Connection. Your student record has to be essentially “closed out” and ownership has to transfer to a different division, which takes a couple of months for that process to take place. You should have access later this fall when the record converts.
Technically speaking, once a person has taken at least 3 credit hours, they are an alumnus of a university. But for most purposes, only degreed individuals are included for mailings and this type of service.

Thanks…for some reason they have a maiden name listed for me and it is the same as my last name. I could understand if it was a West Virginia University alumni site, but…
