This was probably the worst umpired game Iāve ever seen, and as a Cardinals fan, Iāve seen some bad ones (Don Denkinger!!). Metro, believe it or not, you missed the worst call of the night. I still donāt know what happened. Top of the 8th, we have a man on 2B. He steals 3rd, and the UT catcher throws the ball into the outfield. Our guy scoresā¦but, not so fast! The home plate umpire (horrible. complaints on both sides) immediately calls time, struts down the 3B line and talks to the 3B ump, who meekly shrugs his shoulders. Coach Hibbs had gotten run earlier by an even worse umpire, the 1B-2B ump dubbed āWebsterā by Metro. The two other umps check with āWebsterā who shrugs HIS shoulders. Plate ump sends our guy back to 2B. The only thing I can figure is maybe they called some sort of interference by our batter against the catcher, but no out was recorded and the pitch counted, but I donāt know. Can anybody who listened to the broadcast clear this up?
Metro, youād appreciate some people in front of us during that bruhaha who yelled to the umps to āCheck with Websterā.

Nice meeting you too! Good stuff. I wish I had not left in the 7th now, I would had that ump in a fetal position in convulsions. I am glad the UT fans caught on to his limited stature and started calling him Webster after I did. It was THE WORST umpired game Iāve seen in a long time (to call Brad Mc out for standing up to brush his pants off was sickening) I told you when it happened Hibbs was gettin tossed before he came out of the dugout. It was awful both ways. We still would of lost most likely even though the ump was responsible for taking 2 runs away. We just didnāt have it on the mound and on defense last night.
As I walked to my car behind the outfield wall, I talked to our skip, he was in rare formā¦
note to Univ Tennessee Athletics:
when an opposing coach gets tossed, provide some kind of real security. Coach had multiple jerks physically walking up to him taunting him as he exited the premises. Someone could of gotten hurt.
