We have 2 guys listed on the 2nd Team though.

This is year 3 of the transition to C-USA. It’s time to do better than 10th. the roster is upgraded from last season, on paper at least. Hopefully we find our way up into the middle of the standings and play our way into the conference tournament.

I don’t know shiz about our baseball team…but 10th sounds pretty bad. Each year when we suck it is wait until next year.

No doubt about it, we should be higher than 10th this year. 8th is the minimum this season, and I think we will be there, hopefully higher. Last years team finished 10th but 2 games out of 7th and I think this team will be much improved.

We lose 1 starter in Elwood, retain all of our pitching, and Gallello is back for his 5th year after being hurt last year. All of the 1st year C-USA recruits are Juniors this year (Jarrett, Sherer, Nichting) and have lots of games under their belt. I think the JUCO catcher (Fritz) we brought in will be an upgrade offensively, and Brandon Casas who sat last year after transferring from Maryland should upgrade our rotation. We lacked speed last year and I think adding FR Reece Hampton as our CF will help there.

Looking forward to the season.

I always forget that UTEP and North Texas don’t have baseball programs.

My general impression was we played better than our (relative) youth last season. Obviously wanting more than 10th this season, but looking back would you say that assessment is correct?

This.

Given everything that went on last season, on and off the field, I’d say they did OK. Guys like Netzer and Jones will benefit from the experience they got last season.

We’ll find out soon how good we are. From everything I’ve read and from the people I’ve talked to, this season has potential.

clt hopes our bizarre turf field ends up ok.

College Sports Madness has Geoghegan and Netzer on the 2nd Team.

Next to ZERO chance of us finishing last.

Well, they were wrong last year, so there is no reason to think they will not be wrong again this year.

I can’t get over how weird that looks. At least the mound is still dirt. Sliding, I imagine, will not be pleasant.

Rubber pellets, rubber pellets everywhere.

The players should be used to it by now. Several A-10 teams had turf fields and plenty of schools around here have it like Duke, Wake Forest, Virginia Tech and Marshall. I think LaTech is adding it this year as well.

clt cannot endorse.
