Rough weekend. Dropping two of three to RI has our RPI at 94 with the A10 still being the 22nd ranked confeence.
The standings look like this:
Charlotte, GW - 7-2
RI, St. Joes, LaSalle - 6-3
StL - 5-3
Dayton, Fordham - 5-4
X - 4-5
Richmond - 3-5
Duq - 3-6
UMASS - 2-6
Temple - 1-7
St. Bona - 1-8
The week ahead:
Winthrop (14-16, rpi 111) - Wed. @6 pm
Dayton (15-16, 5-4, rpi 234) Fri @ 6 pm (Fireworks night!)
Sat @ 2pm (Spring Football Tailgate 10-2 and dollar hot dog day)
Sun @ Noon
We need a big crowd to show up for our games this weekend. Fireworks after Friday night’s game I think. Saturday is the NNN tailgating. The concession stand has hot dogs for one dollar on Saturday too (I think hot dogs are still a buck on Saturday, even though they cancelled the scheduled “bring your dog” day).
I will be there Friday with a bunch of kids from our Huntersville 11 year old baseball team.
Should be a fun night with the fireworks and hopefully a W.
We beat the mess out of Winthrop last night, 16-5. Homers for Rio (9th of the year) and Justin Wilson (1st). Freshman LHP John Hamilton got the win in his first-ever start.
Corey Roberts (freshman) gets the ball on Friday night against Dayton.
NOTE: Charlotte junior pitcher Joe Yermal (2-0), Game 1 starter in conference series the past two seasons, is out for the rest of the season for an undisclosed reason.
