Montalbano- Co A-10 Player of the Week
Didnât see that coming, he only had 10 RBIs on the weekend

Montalbano made the most of his collegiate debut, pounding a pair of doubles and driving in six RBI against Coppin State on Friday night. For the weekend, he led the 49ers (4-0) with 10 hits and 10 RBI, including five doubles and was 3-for-4 with the bases loaded. He had a hit, with at least one double in each game, scored at least one run and drove in at least one run in all four seven-inning contests. The New Orleans native finished the week hitting .667 (10-15), adding eight runs scored and a stolen base.
So heâs co-POW with a kid who had three fewer hits, seven fewer RBI, and batted almost a hundred points lower on the weekend? Gotta love that anti-Charlotte bias in A-10 baseball. At least this isnât as bad as when Chris Taylor had to share POY honors in 2008 with the catcher from Rhode Island who couldnât carry CTâs jock.
We were playing Coppin State, that might have something to do with it.

Câmon, youâre a NNN regular, you know logic has no place here. IâM MAD, DAMN IT!
Seriously, Iâll concede the point on the opponent. This is a regular occurrence, though - the A-10 seems to hate our baseball team.
The A-10 seems to pick Co-POTW in all sports not just in spite of Charlotte athletes.
