Game one in the books. Niners win 18-1. CSU is way over matched. They have a first year coach and have an extremely short roster. Sound familiar?
Great crowd at the Hayes tonight. Should be another great showing tomorrow.
Redshirt junior Andrew Smith went 6 innings giving up two hits with one earned run. He struck out 8 batters. Redshirt sophomore Tony Montalbano collected 3 hits and drove in 6 rund in his 49er debut.
This series is using the 7 inning 10 run mercy rule due to their shortage of players (primarily pitchers). Tonight’s game only went 6 and a half innings. We scored 18 runs in only 6 innings but the game still took almost as long as it would take to play 9 innings. Our team should be very solid this year.
Awesome atmosphere tonight at the Hayes. Only one surprise in the lineup. Gillespie started at 1B instead of Miguel. Newcomer Montablano took his spot and played right. Wilson was the DH. A pleasant surprise from Montablano.

More baseball carnage today. Freshman Tyler Barnette picks up victory in his Niner debut. Niners win game one 11-0 and take game two 21-0. Sophomore Corey Roberts wins game two. CSU has been outscored 50-1 through the first three games. Game four is tomorrow at Noon.
Were CHP and Judy there today? I know how supportive Judy is of our men’s athletic programs.
Judy’s job depends on the overall success of our programs, particularly our revenue programs. Trust me, she hates losing more than you do, whether its men’s basketball or women’s tennis. You are entitled to whatever opinion you like, but to hint that she doesn’t care about men’s athletics runs counter to reality.
Yes,
Granted it is hard to judge our team based off a 61-1 overall whooping we gave to Coppin state, I thought it was good to have a series like that. Misso. will be a good series, but I would rather whoop up on someone and boost the overall team confidence to start a season. a fan showing like last friday would not be bad either! That was awesome, you would have thought an ACC team was in town. Lets keep Hayes buzzing, especially Friday nights, that was fun!
