R&R For sure…
But “Bubba’s” on Old Satesville Road is pretty good.
I grew up near Lexington NC, though…and that place is like BBQ Capitol of the world haha…so I’m spoiled to that stuff as opposed to anything you can find down here.
I’m with you Drummer, I’m from Lexington NC and it might be a pre-acted bias but I don’t think bbq is quite the same anywhere else.
If you go to R&R you will get shot. go to Jimmy’s at I-85 exit 90-something called South something in Lexington. Herlockers has barabeque and is an all around good eatery right by school on 29 right by (Flying saucer/ stool Pigeons,Mcallisters)

Herlockers has my all time favorite BBQ sauce. I love that stuff. The BBQ itself is very good, but a notch below Lexington BBQ.
Another vote for Spoon’s…they have some of the best banana puddin’ too.
Bill Spoon’s is as good as I have ever had!!
He’s only open 4-5 hrs a day and 4 days a week, I believe.
With those hours on South Blvd…he’s ROLLING when he’s open!!
If you’ve never had it…you HAVE to give it a try!!!
(The closest to Spoon’s I’ve had was a place called Smithfield BBQ in Raleigh…very good as well)

Smithfield Chicken and Barbecue is all over Eastern NC. Very good Cue and Fried Chicken. Without going all the way to Lexington - stop at Gary’s in China Grove.
I would recommend Elliott’s Barbecue on Independence. It is in the shopping center where Media Play used to be.
It is the best barbecue I have had in Charlotte since Rogers closed down a few years ago.

FOR REAL. That place is so good, he can get away with only being open around 20 hours per week. INCREDIBLE bbq

I think you’re talkin’ about Jimmy’s @ the Southmont exit…and yeah, that stuff’s badass…
If you’re in that neck of the woods, you can also it up the Business 85 exit about 3 miles before you get there, and go to the BBQ Center…a friend of mine owns the place…but that’s not why I like it…the food’s just AWESOME (and they have kickass milkshakes)
Old Hickory House.
If you leave there anything short of miserable, you didn’t do it right.

Ok you probably won’t get shot, but they had a shooting at the one in harrisburg a month or two ago.
Also, Blue Mist, north of Asheboro. They have some pungent smelling sauce but it tastes great. They have a wide variety of other things to eat if you are driving over to Raleigh and you need to stop for lunch. They have breakfast that’s better than Bojangles.
You also save gas if you take NC 49/US 64 to get to Raleigh because its shorter than I 85/40, although it is 15-30 min. longer since its a tad slower.
Sonny’s… :lmao:
what about that motorcycle themed BBQ place on South blvd? I can’t remember the name, but I’ve heard it’s good. Anyone been there?
I’m more of a fan of the red sauce BBQ, but I do like the local kinds… You can lots of ribs around town with sauce on them, but the pulled and chopped pork is usually the Eastern (spicy watery sauce) style or the Lexington (vinnegar base) style.
Anyone ever try SC style? (Mustard based sauce) That’s pretty good also. Anyone try Western NC style? what is that like?
I’m hungry.

Mac’s has good food. they have a very large brew selection too. It is frequented by people with Harley bumper stickers on mini-vans and SUVs. The patrons also have Harley t-shirts.
