Just curious, out of all sports (college, Pros, Euro, whatever), what do you think is the best Mascot in sports? Of course…this assumes that everybody thinks the Charlotte 49ers is the best. So I guess besides the 49er, what do you think?
Surprisingly, I like the Arkansas Razorbacks. It’s original. It appears to be aggressive/intimidating. It sounds strong. It has multiple nicknames, Hogs. The red color invokes a fiery attitude. It lends itself to a cool chant for sporting events, “Wooo, Pig, Sooie!”. It’s not just a chant either. It’s a kind of rallying cry for Razorback fans. “Wooo, pig, sooie” = “Let’s go Razorbacks” in country ebonics.
I like some of the Minor League teams. Hickory Crawdads, Carolina Mudcats, Kannapolis Intimidators, Greensboro Grasshoppers, Winston-Salem Wart Hogs (WS Dash sucks.)
And from college & the movies, Cal Santa Cruz Banana Slugs.
I’d have to say Wolverines. They could have stop at Wolves and yes Wolves are more intimidating looking, but a Wolverine is an extremely dangerous animal. The cool factor on this mascot was doubled after X-Men and then doubled again after Red Dawn.

Intimidators is a good call too. Unique, intimidating, history. Falls short with the physical mascot in my opinion though. As far as minor leagues, I think the Knights is a good mascot. If Charlotte ever gets a MLB team, they need to play up the stadium to the Knights Castle connection.
I like that name and mascot ‘The Fighting Okra’. One of my favorites is the Cornhuskers and I also like the mascot for Notre Dame. I think its cool thats its a real person.
