Biff Poggi Fired

Then like Poggi would have needed to had he stayed, Brewster would also need to hire his replacement as a coordinator to make me feel better about the future of this program under his leadership.

Not sure we have that kind of money or luck.

With Xmas around the corner, will the Poggi collection of ā€˜comfortable’ football spirit wear be around and on sale?

Brewster also told Hunter Bailey when he got hired that this was probably going to be the last stop in his career… I think he is just done moving all over the country. Can’t blame him.

Interesting, Poggi now back at Michigan.

I’m…uninspired by most of these names.

Bell did well at Valdosta St and Jacksonville, but his more recent 4 years at Western are pedestrian.

Weinke and Cox have been OCs for all of one year. Shades of ā€œHealy-ismā€ on these two.

My top Tier is Dan Mullen, Skip Holtz, and Bill Clark. Any of those is a dream scenario for our situation in my opinion. Even if those fail, you call it a good hire, and move on, like Ron Sanchez (in my opinion)

After that I would pursue Tre Lamb, Kerwin Bell or Mike Jacobs. Not quite the name value of the first three, but a lot of wins and experience running a program.

After that I would look at Joe Cox.

If we can’t get any of those 7, we are in trouble boys.

I’d also like to see whoever gets our program treat it like a new program. Flair, flash. We don’t have 100 years of history. We don’t need to treat our uniforms like Michigan. We need to run an exciting style. We need to do wild stuff with uniforms. Change it up. That’s who we are.

I have to agree with that assessment. Bell seems like the ā€œat least he probably won’t embarrass usā€ hire. Cheap and a bit lazy.

Also, I don’t know if I’m going to give much weight to pre-NIL, pre-Transfer portal era records at FCS schools that didn’t have to deal with those things. I want someone best prepared to run a program in the current environment.

I think we can get Holtz, it seems like he was interested when we hired Poggi. I just want a solid double, no more attempts to get a HR hire. Let’s just make solid contact an get us to respectability.

Bell might be that but he doesn’t seem to be peaking now.

Clark is my #1 but I think he’ll have other options.

Way to keep it classy coach.   I’m amazed at coaches who claim to be ā€œbuilding men of characterā€, then make posts like this in a public forum.

In my ā€œI don’t do this as a professionā€ opinion, in other words I have a job that doesn’t allow me to actually research all of the candidates, I like this list too. Although I might be a little lower on Holtz than others. I’m actually curious if ECU will pursue Holtz again. They did hire a former bball coach in Dooley.

If we don’t go with someone with HC experience then I would go with Cox

Does Holtz even want to coach college football anymore? Read on another board that he’s not a fan of the new NIL era.

I think we should hire a chill guy.

Rich Rod, Butch Jones, Bob Chesney need to be on the list. Charles Huff at Marshall as well.
