Atkins never called plays at FSU. Head coach did according to reports.
lol yeah. ECU 34 million? Definitely not
I could believe 3.4 million.
He does have a +/- on there so it could be $34 million -$30 million
Atkins coached under Willie Fritz at both Ga Southern (some of their best teams of all time) and during Tulane re-buildâŚ
Fritz is football guy and personality very opposite to BiffâŚ.
Shawn Elliot took Georgia State to five bowl game in seven years.
Yes Elliott is excellent. Played in Bowl games and won them.
Similar to:
Wommack from South Alabama, established a good program, played in Bowls and won bowlsâŚ. Current Bama DC.
But both former jobs probably better than ours?? So probably out of reach.
Current JMU coach. Is that an option for us? He was quite impressive, watch his post game against us.
- 2022
The Pirate Club set an all-time fundraising record with $36,743,828 in new gifts and commitments.
In 2022, the Charlotte 49ersâ Athletic Foundation raised a record $2.257 million for its annual fund.
Iâll let someone more knowledgeable say for sure, but pretty sure our annual fund is independent of our gifts.
We just got a $25 million dollar gift from Smoky Bissel, so clearly $2 million isnât our record if we are including gifts.
I know they fired their OC and promoted Atkins to OC and made a turnaround on O shortly thereafter. I assumed he was calling the plays then but could have be wrong.
There was immediate improvement though after he was elevated.
The most notable relationships included Nike, Pepsi and Gatorade. In his âOpen Mike: August 2024 Edition,â Hill noted that the 49er Club set an all-time record for Charlotte, raising nearly $3.5 million from over 2,800 members of the community and Niner Nation.
Iâm not saying one way or another, numbers were called into question from original post. This could be completely false, just what I found.
Sounds like ECU is including all gifts. I know the Pirate Club is funding their IPF. They had a big gift for that from the owners of Bill Clark homes, one of their biggest donors. So it sounds like they are lumping all of that into Pirate Club donations where we have a separate fund for Evergreen that doesnât count as 49er Club donations.
"Jon Gilbert, director of athletics, expressed his appreciation for Lance and Heath Clark, and Bill Clark Homes, for their gift supporting the Isley Indoor Performance Center and other athletics initiatives.
âThis most recent gift makes them the largest donors in the history of ECU athletics,â said Gilbert. âTheir giving level is unsurpassed.â
Gilbert said their generosity started with their father, Bill Clark. âHe has instilled Heath and Lance with their philanthropic giving to ECU,â he said. Gilbert added the Clarks are not only the largest givers to athletics, they are ECUâs largest givers in the NIL (name, image and likeness) space."
Then in that case do we count Smoky Bissellâs $25 million gift in our fundraising for apples to apples?
We should. And while weâre at it we should add the $25 million from the state.
I donât know that for sure about ECU but I find it hard to believe they take in nearly 3x what UNCâs Rams club takes in just from regular donations. I could be wrong. If those numbers are correct they do a really shitty job spending their donors dollars.
Whoâs your candidate?
If WVU releases Neal Brown he is an attractive candidate. He did great work at Troy.
Hard to tell as each school can count things differently. It could be gifts committed. It could be cash actually that has come in. With our capital itâs committed, but I think club is cash in. I have no idea if Smokeyâs gift is 5 mil over 5 years. He might not give it until the school needs it. No idea.
I want Skip Holtz out of our choices and where we are today. We should have hired him instead of Biff if he was legitimately interested. He will in all liklihood be good, not great. Which is what we need. Three years bowling out of five would be a huge boon to the program. We donât need to be in the CFP nor should we expect to. Letâs be realistic.
As for basketball, I like Aaron, but we should have done a national coaching search after his interim season regardless and gotten the best candidate available. Iâm really high on Griff Aldrich and Id bet anyone $100 that we will see him somewhere else other than Longwood in the next 2-3 years and he will be successful there too.
Seeing on Twitter that people think Brian Kelly might be available soon. That would be a home run. He didnât just do well at LSU and Notre Dame. He also has experienced once doing good things at Cincy and central michigan.
Lots of double digit win seasons on that guys resume. Instead of swinging for the fences gambling on stupid shit we should swing for the fences on a guy like him.
Youâre Right- After digging into this a little deeper, each school does report revenue streams a little different. Not comparing apples to apples. Iâll leave it at that.
