Dan Mullen?
Probably a situation of biff having no more answers, and an unwillingness to fire anybody. So a mutual parting. But this is on Mike. He had to save face by moving on. It was crystal clear we were heading nowhere with the structure in place. You have to make a leap in year two and we are regressing.
Very shocked, I wasnāt even going to call for him to go until next year. Not disappointed though, total cluster watching the teams he put out on the field.
Count me as another. This board is ridiculous and is constantly screaming to fire anyone and everyone for anything they donāt agree with. Biff was hired and the entire CFB landscaped has changed in his 2 yrs here. Starting over all the time seems to have worked, Where? I thank him for his effort and dedication to this university. Best of luck Biff. IMHO Biff knew he was not long for this job and that is why he brought Brewster here.
We cannot have a new coach every 3 yrs and giving a coach 2 yrs seems crazy
The City of Charlotte refuses to give any coach any time whatsoever to let coaches build anything. Ridiculous.
Record does not show it but my EYES showed me the best football team we have had at Charlotte.
Good.
Time for hot board action. Poggi killed any momentum this program had. I donāt think Charlotte will be able to get a successful FCS head coach. Best case scenario is OC from a winning P5 school (but not elite school like OSU or Bama)
I think @Sycamore has the best read on the situation.
I guess people do not have the same humor as me and why my post was flagged and hidden.
Disappointing to see. Will not be surprised if this post is flagged also.
The purpose was to highlight that Mike will make a left field hire instead of someone who is deserving of the opportunity.
So we bring a coach who comes to a team with minimal talent and builds the talent up. No itās not where it needs to be yet but we are far more talented than when he got here.
We have a shot to finish 5-7 this season, which I would bet 80% of the fans would have been satisfied with that record at the beginning of the season. My guess would have been 2-3 wins this season.
If we only give coaches 2 years to rebuild, coaches wonāt come here. This was a mistake. He deserved another season.
Iām surprised by this. If he has been able to finish 5-7 then it would have felt like we had some momentum going into next year. Now I was starting to have big doubts about whether he could get it done but this still seems quick.
what momentum did Biff kill? he took over for a program that fired their coach
Hillās let go of FB 3 coaches now.
None of this brings me joy.
This is where my thoughts were. I expected Biff to be asked to fire a coordinator or two but get one more year if we finished 5-7.
I hope we can afford Biffās buyout.
Poggiās biggest problem was his talking up so big as to what he could doā¦ going to be a top 15 team in the nation with a bunch of his ex-high schoolers, compete for conference championships every year, etc. And all he got was 3 wins a season. Kind of funny that is also how many questions (3) he got in Dallas and was pissed off about.
Transfers and the portal allows you to flip the script much quicker than in the past. I think thatās why weāre seeing quicker hooks for these coaches.
Biff just seemed out of place though. Heās better suited to coach high school. Especially if heās looking at his position as more a āmentor.ā We need a coach looking to win and treating our players as adults. Especially since theyāre getting paid now.
Memo to future coaches. Beat the teams youāre suppose too and donāt lay an egg on homecoming, especially when youāre announcing a $500 million dollar fundraising initiative for the school.
Heāll always be 2-0 against ECUā¦
It looked to me like Todd Orlando, experienced DC at USF totally called off the blitzes end of 3rd quarter in mercy to us they were just running thru our lines on both sides of the ballā¦ maybe someone in the
football industry gave our AD some feedback ā¦.
Not a suggestion but question, what about Tim Brewster as head coach?
