It did look bad losing to another second-year coach in Golesh like that but heās also making 2.5 times what Biff was. Weād better be ready to pay someone because firing a coach 22 games in doesnāt scream stability.
Mike Houston is available.
ECU has been bowl eligible 3 times since they hired him.
Another thing that just occurred to me is it stinks having FAU looking at the same time. Currently I feel that is a more attractive job.
You saw that against usf? You need to go to the optometrist
Big no
No. He stunk at Minnesota
I am going to miss my pre-game Biff Burritos
I didnāt have much confidence in biff to turn it around next year but was ok with us giving him another year if he cleaned house and brought in new coordinators.
Firing coaches so quickly is a bad look. Who is going to want to come coach here? Dog shit program that doesnāt give coaches time to build. What an opportunity!
Beggars canāt be choosers. āMick, you canāt always get what you wantā You guys will see who wants to interview for a program that has a history of firing coaches after 2-2.5 yrs into their first term. Plus a coach that was willing to take a pay cut to help pay assistances. In their minds, we are asking a coach to up root their familyās and move to a new place that might give them 2 yrs and if I canāt turn around a historically bad program and make a bowl we are out. Bad business decision, and that is all CFB is, a business. Whoever comes here is going to ask for a really long guarantee of years.
I am not upset but I am surprised. Biff didnāt live up to the hype last year or this year. It became increasingly clear he didnāt know what he was doing or how to fix things. I think his personality fits high school really well. I will add, he was very different this season and never seemed happy to be here. I never thought he would get fired but I did think he might leave on his own at the end of the year. It makes me wonder if thereās more to the story (likely not). I am not crazy about how it makes us look, would have preferred he just resign but again I didnāt have any faith in him going forward.
Saturday will be the battle of interim coaches I guess.
Interesting timing. Biff fired in the middle of his 2nd year? Does he have to sign an NDA to get the rest of his contract? Biff seems like a guy that would like to share his opinions about being fired.
We could have saved $200k a year on what we owed him if weād waited until the end of the season. Why the fuck did we fire him now?
Mike Hill hates this program.
"If Biff Poggi is fired without cause , Charlotte will owe him base salary for the remainder of his agreement.
- $900,000 if Coach terminates this Agreement prior to December 31, 2023
- $700,000 if Coach terminates this Agreement prior to December 31, 2024
- $500,000 if Coach terminates this Agreement prior to December 31, 2025"
Looking back I think Mike took a chance on biff. Almost like he had a handful of coaches that could not separate themselves in the hiring process and biff stood out like a sore thumb. I think Mike was going with his gut on the hire and itās now the same with the firing.
You have to think our next coach comes with lots of wins as a head coach at the college level, whatever that level is. I donāt know if the Cignetti thing is true but if there was an opportunity there you know Hill is sick over missing that hire.
With rosters getting changed 40-70% every year, the players seem to be less interested in who either the coach or school they play for, itās all money and playing time.
Strength of schedule prior to Biff was in the 105-115 range. Current schedule is around 35
Whose SOS are you referring to?
Niners is #75 per latest from CFN.
IMO, I donāt think that is true, I think a few players are here 100% because of Biff, I think Purdy is one of them. He cares about these kids and their parents know that.
Every site has their own list. On this list, take out the programs that play 2 pay games a year and tell me how many programs played a tougher than us this year in the G5
