Come on Ghost!!!, this site needs some more of you at this time.
Iām not going to because it just isnāt important in the big scheme of things. Or even a small scheme.
Some of you guys need to go back and read your own posts on the Mike Hill and the future threadā¦
We are not a good football team. How many penalties have we had for motion, lining up offsides, 6 men on the line? And how about the kick returner catching the ball and carrying it out of bounds about the 10 yard line. Those are things you learn in JV football! I was embarrassed for our team Saturday night. Iām ready for a real football coach. No more gimmicks.
News flash for clt:
MNF just mentioned the Cowboys are having a cheerleader reunion tonight so about 200 current and former gals will be shaking their pom poms at halftime.
And now back to that other breaking news.
Biff had less than two years and did not even have the opportunity to recruit for his 1st year. So, in reality, Biff got to play with HIS players for less than one season. AD Mike Hill needed a scapegoat for Charlotte 49ers Footballās lack of performance. Biff probably got fired for being too loyal to his assistant coaches, primarily DC Oz, who was obviously in over his head. Charlotte 49ers Footballās defense cost the team game after game. Biff was never hired to coach offense or defense, but was hired to recruit young men, promote the non-existent Charlotte Football program, and mentor young men unto adults. That was always his role. Here we go againā¦ goodbye Biffās 1 year of recruitsā¦ goodbye Biffās goodwill that he brought to this programā¦ and why would any decent coach take on the role to lead this program when they now know they will have less than two years to make progress. Biff was never the long-term answer at HC, but given another year or two he could have taken us up a level or two. Building a D1 football program from the ground up is tough and takes time, but beware any and all future coaches, YOU will NOT be provided that time before the Charlotte AD pulls the plug again reacting to message board chatter.
Its a shame he didnāt work out. I like the guy and have no doubt he cares about the kids. Would have been a lot of fun to taste success with a personality like him at the helm.
I started to see the writing on the wall last season after #0 pulled his antics in the FAU game and it took more than the very next play to bench his rear end regardless of his talent. Thatās what a leader that kids respect would have done.
So as much as all the kids ālikeā him, they didnāt respect him. A coach that is respected doesnāt have players that commit selfish, undisciplined penalties over and over again. Every time we would get a smidge of momentum, someone would do something stupid, undisciplined and selfish and kill it.
There isnāt much worse to watch than that and it happened almost every. single. game. of the Poggi era.
Steve Wilks HC / DC
Alex Atkins OC
?
Wilks would be the hire of the century. I feel like Hill already has who he wants. We are competing against ECU again and needed to ask fast.
Paragraph of the night so far. 100.
Just watched the hwy 49 podcast and it sounds like those on the inside knew biff was checking out. Maybe hill saw that too and pulled the plug. Which was the right thing to do. Weāre not a charity case. Donāt want to be here, thereās the door.
Plus, I doubt biff wouldāve quit before the season, so maybe hill wanted this to be his call. Either way program needs a reboot. Again. Hillās got to earn his money with the next hire.
Mike Houston is available
Please hire someone with head coaching experience. Hunter Bailey throwing out, Alex Atkins name. OC sure, head coach, no way.
Iāll keep saying Wilks as HC and DC and Atkins as OC and letās go.
put down the crack pipe
and still will be after we hire a coach
Dare to be great.
