I was really shocked at this. I know Biff did some really good things for a lot of kids over a long period of time in Baltimore. That said, he was a complete jerk here, from the word āgo.ā I donāt know what it was, but he clearly did not get along with the school, administration, or the fans.
I really think if he had acted with more basic decency heād have kept his job another year. The timing of this is really bad. We donāt need to hire in a cycle when 6 other AAC schools are hiring, and we are. To me that screams how much animosity Biff had created for himself. This is a place that tolerates losing if you donāt embarrass the University.
He spent 5 or 6 weeks in Italy over the summer while the team was in summer camp. That doesnāt scream I want to be here or that j am committed to building a winner.
When I heard that I figured he wasnāt going to be around long, but figured 4 or 5 wins would be enough to stick around for one more.
Maxs parents supposedly have caused some ruckus over his lack of PT - canāt see a world in which he comes back, especially with one of the primary NIL funders up in the air now.
Biff himself hyped up the expectations for last year so this idea that he really only had this yearā¦no. Go back and read his comments, he brought that on himself. I have been very frustrated with Biff this season particularly and something was different about him this year. The weekly spots on 730 werenāt the same, the weird evasiveness about injuries and whoās playing to start the year were red flags that something wasnāt right. I am guessing Biff will share his side of the story at some point.
I absolutely think he loves the kids (he says it all the time lol) and I think they like playing for him. I wanted it to work out and thought after the ECU game maybe we were turning a corner. I hope we go in a different direction with the next hire. I donāt need loud bravado and overhype. I want someone with a coaching resume that includes wins.
Whatās missing here is a healthy NIL program which is indicative of our fundraising underperformance.
We should not be beholden to a coach for our NIL health. The fact that we are sounds like it is going to cost us both Brown and Purdie according to some posters. Flipping QBs annually is also not a path to success. Not to mention other players that may / will leave.
Poggiās undisciplined team performance on the field has been seen as a / the problem, but it seems like more of a symptom of the larger problem.
To be blunt, Brown isnāt good enough to be an AAC QB. The sample size is large enough to make that conclusion. I wish him well but thatās no loss. Purdie is however.
Some money was coming in thru Biff but a big chunk was from Northwood Ravin - including kicking in apts as part of NIL. Owner was a huge fan of Biff. It is possible he sticks - but since his giving was in large part due to liking Biff its going to take some work to keep him in the fold.
We are also making preparations for NIL to come in house and we will absolutely have a cap one what we will spend and not a penny of it will come from student fees - which has put my concerns at ease to some degree as student fees should in no way fund paying players.
I canāt stand him. Iād have to check my own feelings.
I still feel like heād have been much more successful here. Not sure either side can reconcile that, but I do think we could do a lot worse. Could probably get him cheap right now.
Agreed. Biff should have replaced the OC and DC before now. But he didnāt get time to turn this hot mess around. Have no faith Hill will do the right thingā¦
But thatās also his fault. He acted with complete contempt towards the school, his administration, and the fans in his short time here. If he had just, you know, not acted that way, I think he gets at least one more year. This is a school that tolerates losing. It does not tolerate embarrassing behavior.
