Biff Poggi Fired

For the record, im not saying we get albin, im just saying it would be a great hire. Hill has to prive he can make that kind of pull before he gets the benefit of the doubt

It is either done and we just can’t announce (which I believe to be true) or we are in a bigger mess that any of us could ever imagine.

Hypothetically, if it is Albin, honestly I can understand and respect that he wants to coach these kids to a MAC title, but announces before the bowl game. These kids want to be MAC champs…can’t blame a coach for wanting to see that through.

No he wouldn’t be behind, he already would have had a list of players to go after. The portal doesn’t open for most players until Monday, that is the date you should be worried if it doesn’t occur before then.

Personally don’t want a coach who left his team before their conference title game. It may not be important to some but its important to those players and that institution.

I believe the deal is done. We are just waiting on something before making the announcement. The life of an athletic director is not easy.

I mean Scott Frost went that route when he left UCF for Nebraska. He wanted to see the season through with his team before announcing his departure and everyone was okay with that.

Most coaches do, not saying it’s right but I’ve seen way too may bowl/playoff games with coordinators that have their next job being discussed while their onscreen. Or like Tom Herman it get announced when you’re in the playoff discussion which would have been historic for Houston.

I’d love Albin and hope y’all are right but it’s not done that way most of the time.

Frost coached the bowl but it was announced the day of the AAC championship.

Plus he would likely bring players with him, so Ohio would likely be the one in the hole.

I’m not sold he would want this job. Why would he? We can’t pay THAT much more and we have been an atrocious program where coaching careers go to die.

I wouldn’t want this job if I was already successful in fbs. FCS or a retread looking to rebuild his career sure, but already successful fbs coach with upward mobility? Bad move IMO.

With all due respect, why would anyone want our job based on how you are describing it? I doubt even a homeless man on the street would want it.

We can pay more. It’s in a better league, with a MUCH better media rights deal including getting to play your games on Saturdays the way the college football gods intended (no more midweek MACtion). In a wonderful city. It doesn’t get so cold here. Mountains and Beaches both within a short drive. It isn’t in freaking Ohio.

There are plenty of reasons to put in the PRO column.

He supposedly is only making around 700,000. That means he would get a substantial increase coming to Charlotte.

If you look in the dictionary under pessimism, you will Find A picture of Niner national

Hi All - I’m new here, just wanted to check in. My son is a freshman at Charlotte and a member of Pride of Niner Nation - I’m a big college football fan for a long time and while we live in the Triangle area, I went to school at a well known West Coast university, so I had no ties to any NC schools until now. I want to see my son enjoy football season, and when I get to a game would like to see some success as well (I saw the UAB game and Chapel Hill). Football was a big part of my college years, just the atmosphere etc. I did watch most of Charlotte’s games, as well as several hoops so far and men’s soccer (I’m a big fan of that sport as well)

A few thoughts - I can’t speak to Mike Hill’s competence at this point, but I like to think there is something done in the background and it is waiting on something. If it was Brewster, then it makes no sense to not have made it official as of yet. The names some of you have put out there, Albin or Lamb I think would be the correct direction. I’m not going to pretend to know about Charlotte’s Athletic Department and budget etc, but seems to me the program really can find success with a good hire.

I’ve come in here the past few days looking for insight on the hiring and decided I should join for fun. Not here to argue - I have my own school for that and believe me, we have out own issues! But the users in here seem less obnoxious and the levels of paranoia seem normal to me. Relax, it’ll be fine. Just so someone is in place by Monday.

Anyway, Cheers - here’s to hoping for good news in the coming days!

BTW, I see the Hoodie himself, Bill Belichick interviewed at Chapel Hill - maybe Hill can lure him to Charlotte…

No, I think those are all commits only, not signings. See below:

The school hasn’t released anything official. I do not believe they have signed. In fact I think at least one decommitted.
