A good hire will help.
Could one or more of our candidates still be coaching a team that is still playing? Will we have to wait until conference tournament games are completed? After bowl games? Have we already hired a coach but cannot announce it until a later date? All the above?
I have a feeling that Mike Hill has already made the decision. Time will tell.
I heard someone I trust recently suggest that Tre Lamb may be in consideration.
Is that someone that would be interesting to Niners fans? Or are there too many Healy similarities? If thatās a bad thing.
I do think heās someone that could bring energy to the program, would be affordable, and you have to like the network he would have through his uncle.
The negative would obviously be experience. Is ETSU to Charlotte too large a jump?
I personally hope heās a HC in the C-USA Champ Game who is wearing red on Saturday.
Agreed. Anyone NOT coaching this weekend is basically eliminated if we donāt have an announcement by the end of day on Friday.
Prediction: I think Brewster would give his right arm to be a HC again so I could see him joining a UAB type staff next year that has a strong possibility to have an interim HC.
FCS playoff coaches from my NDSU experiences officially get hired late Saturday night, get announced on Sunday, and keep coaching until the end of the season.
Iām guessing all others would immediately start unless they are an assistant on a team selected for the playoffs.
I donāt see this going past Monday without an announcement.
FYI:
I donāt know about much about Tre Lamb, but I know the North Dakota State defensive coaches got an earful after the 38-35 game against them this season. His offense had them completely messed up in coverage. Most points they gave up all season, even more than Colorado scored on them. IF looking at FCS coaches, heās a future name but 3-4 big names remain that should get plucked first.
Or coaching in the MAC championship game, preferably
You missed my point.
? You donāt think what?
I may be in the minority on Lamb, but I would be okay with him. Gardner Webb was night & day different, and quickly after he arrived. There was a fire in the way they played that definitely came from Lamb, in my opinion.
Whatās the salary budget anyway?
Two zinc pennies and a Blue-line pass worth two trips.
At this point im expecting Brewster announced tomorrow afternoon, or one of the CUSA coaches/Ohios coach to be announced Sunday/Monday.
I think if we were going Brewster it would have already happened.
I just hope something happens by Monday.
Iām not sure what youāre arguing about then. That was the whole point of not understanding fans who were helping Purdie out the door.
Faking it to you make it doesnāt mean telling someone we have the same budget as Texas. Yes, that is stupid. It means selling the program in other ways, even if you know from an outside perspective that Texas is perceived as the ābetterā choice. Which is exactly what it sounds like youāre doing with your friendās son.
With your logic of using not being on equal footing, then there would only be one option, whatever school has the highest budget for that year. Everyone would be second tier to Ohio State. That would mean Mich St, PSU, etc fans would have to say, yeah OSU is the better program, youād be stupid not to go there.
If its albin, i will personally apologize to hill for doubting him because that would be a great hire
clt thinks oregon is going to take over college sports.
I hope you guys are right but I donāt think heād wait till after that game to take the job. Is a MAC title worth digging a hole for yourself at your next job?
Too you could take this job and then get pub for the next one if did want to coach this weekend. During the broadcast the new school gets mentioned multiple times. Also you could get people on the ground here to ease the transition.
I hate to be negative and we could hire someone coaching this weekend, but I feel like weāre still chasing them if so.
