sometimes playing in the same market is a good thing… ie cincy-xavior, unc-duke-state-wakeforest, etc… creates rivalrys within the league
Unless DuBois, Rose, Lutz, & Butler convert to Cathlolicism, they’re not putting us in the Catholic League, & that’s what the non-football Big East is.
Maybe we should donate to ND, G’town, the Pope, Nova, etc. to get in.
Are we not in the Catholic league right now?
St. Louis
St. Bonaventure
Dayton
St. Joseph
Fordham
Duquesne
Xavier
La Salle
are all Catholic institutions.
Dayton and Saint Louis are Catholic?
Yep
They will never take St. Joe’s. They have a great coach, but they play in a HS gym and they are in the same market as Nova. They’d be more likely to take us, trust me.
Tis’ true. We’ll get in as a basketball school before GW, Richmond, St. Joe’s, Dayton or SLU.
Tintin
BAM!! I posted about this over a year ago. I rock.
How big will the conference be? This list is almost big enough for 2 conferences, especially if you add some of the other schools. If we have one of the better programs available, our odds are better.
Charlotte
Temple
GW
Georgetown
Nova
St Johns
UMass
Rhode Island
St Joes
Xavier
Seton Hall
Marquette
DePaul
St Louis
Dayton
Providence
Notre Dame (could be football independent)
Richmond
if you look at over40’s list of teams and apply tintin’s statement it looks like we have a good chance if they want a 12 team conference.
- Georgetown
- Nova
- St Johns
- Seton Hall
- Marquette
- DePaul
- Providence
- Notre Dame (could be football independent)
Charlotte - maybe (no other A-10 team in vivinity)
Temple - maybe (Nova already has market presence)
UMass - maybe (very close to UConn market)
Rhode Island - maybe (very close to UConn market)
Xavier - maybe (Cincy already has market presence)
GW - slim chance
St Joes - slim chance
Dayton - slim chance
St Louis - slim chance
Richmond - slim chance
I found this website interesting describing all conference realignment scenarios.
If i’m not mistaken, and please correct me if i’m wrong, but when the BE realigned, there was some agreement that the conference teams would stay as is for 5? years. Am I just imaging I read something along those lines during the whole fiasco?
Assuming my memory is good… my guess is that it breaks once that time period is over. 16 teams poses a number of issues, most notably scheduling (specifically for basketball). Also the conference still only has 8 football memebers. There will be some reorganization to make a 12team (football) conference (if i recall the magic number for a conf champ football game), which will then initiate further realignment among other conferences.
Till then, enjoy the A-10, and someone bump this thread in 5 years.
Edit: Wood posted during my typing… maybe 3 years is the magic length of time.
Gladly.
Preach it, Geno! 17 years, sh*t or get off the pot! It’s about time someone in the BE called out ND about their BS luke-warmness to the BE.
