Biggest Busts in team history

There have been several list threads about the best players in team history. This is the thread about the most disappointing players in team history. My list is just the guys that have been around in my time.

  1. Michael Beasley
  2. Martin Iti
  3. Carlos Williams
  4. Mitchell Baldwin’s senior year
  5. Deangelo Alexander (overall a good player, but certainly didn’t fill the shoes left by Eddie and Plav)

Was Mitch’s senior year 04-05 or 05-06? What was his deal? Why a bust?

I give him the benefit of the doubt because of his shoulder injury, but he just wasnt agressive at all as a senior. Never drove the ball, never put up any legit numbers that season. It was 05-06. In his junior year, he was just a whole lot more agressive, he would beat the trap and get up court really fast. He was pretty nasty prior to his senior year.

Tory Reed.

As a TEAM, the year we lost 4 in a row to end the season just after getting into the Top 25. THAT is the biggest bust I can remember since '71 (not counting the Wissell years).

Who was the shooting guard from Wisconsin-Green Bay?

Chris Sager

Iti has to be the all time biggest bust. I can’t think of anyone else close.

Oh, what about the big white center from Australia?

Thread turns into a Golddusters/Pole Vault/Please Delete thread in 3… 2… 1…

The worst part about that was it followed the undefeated February…

What a month that was.

No doubt. After he proclaimed that he would take the 49ers to the Final Four in his freshman year and then go straight to the NBA, and then show up with absolutely ZERO skills, no one comes even close. He was also rated the #1 center in the country right?

The higher the expectations, the bigger the bust. He’s in a class all by himself.

No one’s mentioned Butter yet?

Yep. It was awesomeness followed by utter despair.

Butter ‘the instant turnover’ Johnson. He should be somewhere on the list. He had some flashes though.

Tyler Worst, I mean Best. With a name like “Tyler”, you’d think he’d be
national player of the year. Take that JimmyHat! LMAO

I wouldn’t include Beasley because hes never played a game for us. I would put him atop the biggest backstabbers list though. Iti gets my vote. I’ve read where he was ranked as the 2nd best prospect in the country. Saw him play once a while back…looked like he didn’t even know what was going on half the time.

Pino Pipes? With a name like that I was sure he was going to come in and light things up!
