Billy Packers Comments

Mark Packer has his old man on today. Mark actually asked his dad about his thoughts on Charlotte. Billy had nothing but positive things to say except he called the city out for its luke warm support for our team. He suggested that if folks were real basketball fans they’d get tickets to our games rather than other opportunities in Charlotte. He also had great things to say about Coach. Billy said he would just set the ECU loss to the side as something that can happen to a good team. He siad we’d be very dangerous in March and could win our conference.

Thought it was a nice segment right before the whinner line so it got good air time with listeners.

Great to hear that! Maybe Packman can pass that on to that dip-shit QCB…Oh well…Lets get ready to play St. hold the ball 34 seconds and shoot Louis

I’m shocked. Delighted to hear this, but completely shocked.

Did Billy then ask Mark why he had been trying to chase some potential fans away?

Wow, I have new found respect for Billy Packer now (I never thought I’d say that). I really like that he called out the city of Charlotte - I hope that gets some pub. Maybe now his son will shut up. At least when Packer calls us out again the 2 or 3 niner fans that listen have the option of telling Packer that “the Packer that actually has a clue about basketball” recognizes us as a talented program.

Yeah, I was shocked that Mark Packer even asked about us. He mentioned Memphis upsetting UL and then asked Billy specifically about us. Billy also said that Lutz has done an unbelievable job in C-USA with the bigger name schools…CInci, Louisville, marquette, and even Memphis getting more attention. Packer commented on how well we can score and the intensity we play with. IMO, if we played some better D we would be a great team, no doubt.

And Billy is obviously anti-NBA. He criticized the Bobcats for their $275 tickets (price increase) and said the people of Charlotte need to support the Niners, instead.

I heard Billy Packer’s comments and I thought that I was going to have to pull over and take a deep breath to regain composure.

I wonder if Mark understood that when Billy was calling Charlotte out to support it’s team, he was indirectly speaking to Mark also?

Go niners, please do not lay another rotten egg Saturday.

I don’t get why everyone is so surprised by Billy’s comments. He has long been complimentary of the Niners. I even remember him doing a game (I think it was maybe UNC/Marquette) back in late 2000/early 2001 when he picked us as a sleeper Final 4 team. That was the team that smacked NC-Hillsborough Street around, and then led both Miami and South Carolina by 40 points at home.

WHEN WAS THIS???

Good call.

I think Pack might have a few kind words for Charlotte every now and then, but he is far from a supporter. He lets his boys bag on them all the time and really does nothing about it.

Charlotte’s account of game

UNC-Western Blvd’s account of game

Billy is definitely a lot better than his jack@ss of a son!

Do you do anything but come on here and insult people?

Glad he gave a little love to the Niners, but don’t let that fool you, he’s an arrogant piece of shit. He thinks he’s just a little bit above anyone who’s not a so-called “expert”.

one of the forgotten, but great moments in Halton Arena was that night when Eddie Fogler went home early.

What a nice picture. What was the final total, 17?

Per Media Guide:

17 for 34

After Fogler was tossed for his second T, he went over and congratulated Bobby and told him he had a great team. I thought that was a pretty classy thing to do considering he had just been ejected.
