Bobcats name change?

How about the “Carolina 2nd Worlders” since NC is in the 1st world and SC is a 3rd world state?
that was sooooo funny!!! I can’t stop laughing…
lol I bet!
It’s funny cause it’s true.
Bobcats is a stupid name.

Flight is also a stupid name.

Hornets name should’ve never left town. Shame on whoever didn’t stand up and fight for it. Cleveland kept the Browns name. Someone should have fought for Hornets.

Kinda scared at the thought of considering a new name. The NBA seems to have a bad recent history at creating new names/identities…Wizards? Bobcats? Thunder? Real dumbass names with every worse color combinations. Someone should be shot everytime the Wizards wear those copper and black unis. They look REAL STUPID in them. The original Bobcats unis were not much better.

At this point, with the Hornets name likely gone without a lot of wasted effort. I’d rather go old school and name the team Carolina Cougars. At least it would have a historic tie in to pro basketball in North Carolina.

ETA: Just read in shoutbox. Charlotte Royals wouldn’t totally suck.
Best idea yet. Larry Brown (along with Doug Moe) used to coach the Carolina Cougars in fact. They could have have some hot 40 something cheerleaders. I think it will work.

Wow, I’m impressed. A Seinfeld reference I don’t remember, and I know a lot of obscure lines from that show…

Wrongggggg. They’re the exact same shape with a little artistic license.

yeah, I don’t see how anyone can’t see the resemblance between the panthers logo and the two states.

Inspired by? Certainly.

Resembles? Not even close.

They are two totally different concepts.

Start a new thread if ya’ll want to debate the Carolina Panthers/NC&SC thing.

In the meantime, I submit this namechange for the Bobcats.

Carolina Thundercats! HOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

A) Awesome Idea.

B) You start the thread.

Part of the agreement between the City and the NBA was that the team had to be named Charlotte. The City of Charlotte paid for the arena, so Charlotte is the name on the jerseys.

HORNETS OR BUST!!!
Hornets should be us. Shinn on Tew Orleans.
But if we can’t be Hornets then Bust would be good. After one of our own.
We should have some nice cheerleaders.
Per metro’s suggestion, Racing is a great theme. Speed or Draft or Thunder or something.
Banking would be a good theme. Maybe the Charlotte Capital.
If you want to go an Air Jordan type thing make it the Jordanaires. I’ll bet we could come up with a mascot to suit. And that may lead to a name swap with us, N.O., Utah and Memphis.
Air quality could provide names like Cloud.
The historical side of our pro bball is my favorite. Larry Brown, Doug Moe and George Shinnp could be remembered with the “Stooges”.

Aren’t bobcats indigenous to the state of NC (in the mountains)?

Also I don’t think going to route of the Panthers and being named Carolina is a good idea. Football works regionally due to it having less games, can draw its fan base for games from a larger region.

In addition, it takes away from the notoriety that a sports franchise can give a city. There are plenty of people that have no idea the Panthers play in Charlotte, they may be dumb, but the average fan as well all know, is dumb.

So now I know why I don’t know how good the Niners bbal competition is.

Ditto. If it’s not going to be the Hornets just leave it alone.

I Like Normm’s "New Orleans Heineken Looters" & Moss’s “Utah Wife Swappers”
