Boston completes the sweep

I thought the Rocks would at least take 1, but WOW! I may not like a few teams from Boston (Patriots and Red Sox), but seriously this town is dominating the sports world.

In addition to the Red Sox and Patriots, the Celtics are one of the favorites to win the East and BC is currently #2 in the BCS.

BTW, Good job Rockies, these guys gave it their all this year and should be the favorite to win the NL West next year. They brought much excitement to the postseason winning all those games down the stretch, before bowing out to the Red Sox.

  Been a Sox fan since I was 5! I’m loving it!

You love buying a championship? You knew you weren’t going to get through the day and not hear something like that.

Yankees did it for so long, so why can’t we?

Yankees did it for so long, so why can't we?

Now that’s hypocritical… but aslong as you admit it. I know some BoSox fans that still will not.

Something’s fixed. You can’t win 21 of 22, & then not at least win 1 of 4.
Fix,fix,fix,fix,fix.

BTW, in reference to buying the W, I thought you were meaning paying top dollar for players. I don’t think they cheated. Even the sox were getting the bad calls from homeplate last night. What would they be able to buy?
Yankees did it for so long, so why can’t we?
That is incorrect. The Yankees won in 96-00 with home grown talent, after the 2000 season they started spending $$ like mad, notice they haven’t won squat since.

Ohh, that is total bull****. There is hardly any home grown talent on there roster. Jeter, Posada, Mariano Rivera, Pettite and Bernie Williams, that is the list. Rest of the team is Cone, Gooden, Stawberry, O’Neil, Boggs, Martinez, Duncan, Raines, Fielder.

Here is the 1996 Starters:

1996 New York Yankees
Most Starts by Position

C Joe Girardi (120)
1B Tino Martinez (151)
2B Mariano Duncan (104)
3B Wade Boggs (123)
SS Derek Jeter (157)
LF Gerald Williams (70)
CF Bernie Williams (140)
RF Paul O’Neill (146)
DH Ruben Sierra (61)

SP Dwight Gooden
SP Jimmy Key
SP Andy Pettitte
SP Kenny Rogers

WOW 4 home grown players that is really impressive.

I know it’s hard for you poor Yankee bastards to accept the fact the the Red Sox are THE dominate team in baseball now, but lets try not to distort the truth too much.

There was not one high priced free agent on that team. All those players were acquired via trade or the farm system.

The Red Sox only have 8 players on the roster that were on the team in 2004, the Yankees were much more stable in their run in the 90s to 2000.

The Yankees didn’t have the number 1 payroll in baseball until I believe after 2000 when they signed Mussina, their first big free agent signing.

The Red Sox have a few young guys in their roster, the rest were free agents, many high priced. The Yanks were not like that when they won, and I hope with some of the decisions they have made in the past year, they are going back to that style.

Taking nothing away from the Red Sox, as they are playing by the rules and $ of the current MLB structure, but from now on please know what you are talking about before you start trying to criticize the only legitimate dynasty we will ever see in baseball for a long time.

Exactly what 2002 said. I’ll be happy to talk baseball if you like. I love the Red Sox “fans” these days, I could educate 99% them on their own team (the team actually did exist prior to 1998). The FA’s on the 96 Yankee team were mid level with the exception of Kenny Rogers (who was the worst starter), everyone else was aquired via trade. You conviently forget Jorge Posada, Mariano Rivera, Ramiro Mendoza, and Jim Leyritz. The truth is the Yankees won smart in 96 thru 00, they paid their own talent in those years. Starting in 2000 they got stupid.

I’m not disputing the Sox are the best right now I dispute the horse **** arguments Sox fans make that they don’t buy championships.

Oh, you silly Yankee fans… So 4 starters is a home grown team huh… Low level free agents???

4 Home grown starters (Or the same # as the 1996 Yankees).
Oh, you silly Yankee fans… So 4 starters is a home grown team huh… Low level free agents???
Yup, I erased you list since they were nothing but noise. THe 1996 Yankees Had 2 SP’s that were FA’s, Rogers was high $$ (the only high $$ FA on the team), the other was Jimmy Key- Mid Level $$. The FA position players were Girardi, Boggs (platoon with Charlie Hayes) and Mariano Duncan. None of them were big $$ players. Everyone else was via trade. That is organic growth, using your own to obtain others. Much like the SOx did with Varitek, Schilling, etc… 98, 99, and 00 were built the same way.

QUOTE=Jimmyhat49er;264702] The Yankee have had the highest payroll since the 90’s as much as you want to delude yourselves otherwises. Do the Red Sox have a high payroll now? The Yankees had the highest payroll begining in 96, 98, and 99… ( I guess 3 years takes up the whole decade?? I’d get a clue what I was talking about before running my mouth)…

The Yanks do have the hghest payroll, the Sox are #2, so get off the hig horse that Boston did it right blah blah blah… Everyone played by the same rules, Boston has just played the FA market better than NY. I think the fact the Red Sox paid JD Drew as much as the Yanks paid AROD this year srpeaks volues. The Sox are just as bad as the Yanks when it comes to spending coin.

If you want to talk baseball, I’d love to.
