Bruce Pearl to Auburn

:o :o :o

Guess excitement with press is not a big deal after all

Pearl deal starts at $2.2mm annually for 6 yrs. $100k raise each year. Anyone still think we had a chance?

He owes $5mm back if he leaves after 2nd year.

If that’s what possible success costs we need a bigger bank roll. We brought a stack of $5s to a $100 black jack table.

BCS money hard at work.

It just occurred to me that Dave Didion, the NCAA investigator who gave Pearl his show-cause back in 2011, is now the associate AD for compliance at Auburn. I wouldn’t go back to working in compliance for all the money on earth, especially at Auburn, but I would’ve loved to be a fly on the wall there today. #awkwardsauce

Its a bottom 100 program
The facilities and administrative support are top notch. With the right combination of a good coach and a couple of solid recruiting classes, there’s no reason they couldn’t be middle of the road SEC team year in and year out. But right now, it’s a disaster of a program - even moreso than ours.
Agree 100%
New arena is nice. Ive toured football offices and entire facil back in Pat Dye era. Actually hung in his office with him a few mins and met the president.

Friend of mines kid is #1 p on sofball. Im a fan.

I more less meant we arent that inferior in hoops, for Pearl to consider.
we are not inferior at all. we are quite superior to them in hoops in terms of just history and how much people here care about basketball. obviously this is not taking into account money and conference.
Not sure how superior we are:

Auburn: Auburn has appeared in the NCAA Tournament eight times. Their combined record is 12–8.

Charlotte has a whooping 7 wins in the NCAA tourney on 10 appearances. Not exactly a Dynasty.
i think we have been there 11 times.

Charlotte definitely has a better basketball history than Auburn, especially considering what each program has to work with. I don’t think it’s debatable. Outside of Charles Barkley and Chuck Person, Auburn basketball lore is a freakin’ wasteland.

Team A: 1 Elite Eight, 3 Sweet Sixteens, 8 Tournament Appearances, 1262-1120 (.530) overall (980-810 since 1949-50 for .547). Recent memory record (1978 forward- Sonny Smith started): 567-525 (.519).

Team C: 1 Final Four, 11 Tournament Appearances, 777-630 (.552). Recent memory record (1975 forward- Lee Rose started): 653-515 (.559).
