The 2010 Indiana High School All-Star was 3rd in scoring (9.1 ppg) and assists (1.5 apg) as a soph last year for the Bulldogs, playing in all 37 games and starting in 24 of them. CBS’s Jeff Goodman pretty much says Butler has lost its best player and any chance of a league title this coming season.
Statistically speaking, not very overwhelming numbers from Hopkins last year.
Looking over stats from last season and leading scorer for Butler was Andrew Smith at 10.9 ppg, the only double-figure scorer on the team. Also see that now-departed Ronald Nored was assists leader by far. Anyway, I think Goodman looking at the importance of Hopkins from going from a part-time starter to full-time, etc.
Per this from Jeff Borzello, Bulldogs plan on using Rontei Clarke to run the offense now that Hopkins is out. Definitely expected Clarke to be the main offensive weapon for Butler anyway, so I guess he’ll just bring it up court and take the first open three!
