There’s also the option for whoever hires Healy to pay to get out of the H&H. I don’t remember the number but I think it’s around $500k. If it’s Vandy I hope we get the buyout. We need that more than a H&H with Vandy. With the current climate that’s probably the better outcome no matter who hires him away.
I hadn’t thought of this but had a friend mention it. Typically a coach follows the steps through position coach coordinator then HC. Will has come out and said he isn’t an Xs and Os gu9 and hasn’t been a coordinator. So when he jumps he better make sure he flies because he likely can’t drop back down to a coordinator role. With that in mind are you

Yeah, but he could go to Vandy and make a few $$$, get canned and easily pick up an FCS head job. Then he could do the dance again if he becomes successful again. I take the cash because success where he is currently isn’t guaranteed either. On the flip side if no one has even reached out to him that tells me he is on the long list and not the short list as the thread indicates.
If Charlotte and Vanderbilt signed a H/H it would likely be around the 2032/2033 timeframe. If Healy takes the job he won’t be there by then. He will either be fired because couldn’t win like most other coaches at Vanderbilt or he would have jumped ship like James Franklin did after a few years of success.

Oh yeah I agree - just pointing out I don’t think this is a no brainer decision depending on what his goals are.

I think most likely if he leaves (once again a 2-5 season is possible so we might want to put the brakes on any speculation) it would be for an ACC or SEC school. Just being in the SEC would make Vandy a more attractive opponent than say a Pitt, BC, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, those second tier ACC teams not in North Carolina to me. It’s personal preference though.

I have a friend in FL that gives to the gators, and he knows someone that gives to LSU, that said Bama is waiting on Healy to win one more game and they are calling him. Unreal!

What are they going to use the cash on right now? I’ll take the lower team in a better conference opponent. Otherwise we’ll just buy a game against a FCS team.

I may be wrong but I was under the impression that the h/h had to be within 5 years. Which would make Involve buying out one of their opponents, buying out one of our opponents and scheduling the game.
I may be making that up, but if that is true, its considerably cheaper to just give us cash. And that may be why it’s written that way.
We are furloughing staff. We can definitely use the cash.
Healy to busy dealing with COVID, to worry about Vandy. May not even be able to coach in WKU game… or maybe that is why it was rescheduled.
