The stake your claim commercials during the game today made me cringe every time they came on. Every other a-10 school as this well thought out commercial that gives prospective students want to go to their school and makes students/alumni proud of their school. Our commercials just make us look dumb. I want to say they’re clever and funny, but they’re incredibly corny. Our marketing for this school is already bad…this just makes it that much worse.
I am extremely proud of our school and I’m really happy about how our school seems to be on the upswing right now. I try to be as optimistic on this board as I can be. And I really hate to have to post this after one of the craziest wins I’ve ever seen (even though every ESPN analysist discredits us), but these commercials flat out suck.
Who do I need to email from the university to request we try to put together something with a little more effort?

I thought they were funny. They looked like ESPN mascot commercials. Maybe we need to mix one in with the standard academic commercial with a diverse group of students in a lab with safety glasses on.
I do like the idea of trying to do something kind of different. We can play two 15 second commercials instead of one 30 second commercial. I’m not a marketing major or anything, but maybe the thought is that people have short attention spans so make it short and funny to attract people’s attention? If we could mix in one standard acedemic commercial that shows off what our school has to offer, then I would be happy. But I don’t see what there is about playing cheesy music and showing who our mascot is that can make someone want to go here, or an investor want to invest money in our university.
Maybe it’s just the music that’s played in the background that makes it seem so stupid/corny, but I was embarassed to see our commercial played right after Richmond’s.
Can we have any new commercials include Major’s hairline? It’s trending on twitter.
For the record, I’m really starting to dig it- we as fans need to embrace that as his trademark feature. Bear Bryant had the hat and Lutz the stashe… But I think major’s is most original and unique! 8)

UNC Charlotte, we’ll stress you out so much that your hair will look like 49ers Head Coach Alan Major’s.
Those commercials are awesome. Very different from the standard university commercials. I will say they may work better as local commercials as opposed to national commercials since they aren’t very informative. But of course that’s what makes them unique.
The production in the commercials are pretty decent. It is better than the typical university advert. Those make me roll my eyes.
The fake trolololo song is too obvious though me thinks. They could have probably used a 50’s era type song that they use in old public service announcements that Ren and Stimpy episodes would have.
Also, I think the laundry one is a bit off. Come to Charlotte to do your laundry? :-\
I really dislike the commercials. We have a lot of new facilities that are gorgeous, fantastic sports, and just added a 20th doctoral program. These commercials are an opportunity to educate people about the value of our education. Show them how far we’ve come as a university rather than Crash Bandicoot meets Mrs. Doubtfire. I’d love to have something that really shows us off.
I, personally, like them. Especially the laundry one. It’s humorous, and pretty relatable for our target market. Face it, we can try all we want to win over parents with these “ohhhhh look at how smart we are!” commercials… but it’s the students who make the final decisions.
Plus, it’s a subtle crack at the Ducktown kids. How can you not love that?
You remember our commercial 100 times over before any others. The only other one I remember is the VCU one, but all that featured was shaka smart. I really don’t want that.
Think it’s one of the better University commercials I’ve seen. The stuffy types of showing off the University, they all look the same. And viewers not with the school could care less. These are short and simple.
