Charlotte just got a new pro soccer team!
They’ve been announced for a while but just announced their new name and logo. They’ll be called the Carolina Ascent, which I have mixed feelings toward, but I’m happy with the logo.
They will play in the USL Super League as a second tier 1 women’s pro soccer team, alongside the Carolina Courage in the NWSL. The difference is, despite all other pro soccer leagues playing through the summer, USLS will play through the winter.
First game will be some time in August!
The Ascent play their final game of the fall schedule tonight in Florida. Game is broadcast on Peacock.
It’s the only professional women’s team we have in Charlotte! So be sure to support them if you have the time!

Women are playing on TV-64 right now! No longer need a streaming service to watch the away games!
The Ascent are the first team in the USL Super League to clinch a playoff spot. This spring half of the season has been immaculate. We are at the top of the standings by a decent margin. We also lead the league in average attendance.
One more regular season home game in mid-May, all away matches are broadcast free OTA on channel 64.
After that is the playoffs!
Because USLS is a USSF sanctioned tier 1 league, the winner of the championship will likely be granted a spot in the 2025-26 CONCACAF W Champions Cup.
