Carolina Hoodie.

I was sitting about midway up the middle of the upper student section last night (because I couldn’t get to Halton much earlier), but there were a couple idiots about 3-4 rows above me, that made me about to want to start a fight. I don’t care how much you don’t like Bobby or whatever, don’t be yelling this in the game:

FIRE LUTZ

BOBBY YOUR GOING TO LOSE YOUR JOB

MICHAEL-BEASLEY

God that tore me up, especially the Beasley one, everytime I they yelled something I would turn around and tell them to shut the hell up and support the team. I doubt it was anyone here but, it’s one thing to rant on this board about Lutz, but don’t bring the sh*t to the game.

I had a guy next to me last night making smart ass, belittling comments the ENTIRE GAME!

Look, I’m all for the occassional crack on our team or the next in good fun, but he was becoming bitter, loud, and most of the **** he said was just irritating as ****. It was seriously like Randy Quaid from Major League. If you have that much **** to complain about… THEN GET THE **** OUT!

2 things.

Number 1: I want to give props to the Charlotte coaching staff. One of our assistant coaches (the one that isnt kummer cheeks or moxely) walked over to the stands behind the basket near our bench and got a kid to take his carolina hoodie off. I was proud.

Number 2: At SOAR we should REALLY PUSH not bringing other schools grear. I know everyone says “its different for football”, but for the incoming freshmen we should push ALL OF IT AWAY, even football. My reasoning is because A. It gives them the impression that when they step foot on this campus in August, they are expected by the student body not to wear any other schools crap and B. if they are told they shouldnt wear other gear even if it is football then they are less likely to bring it.

Number 3: Someone needs to make a list or something describing all of the reasons that of all schools, Carolina should be the last one you should ever pull for. I’m not talking about all the cliche “they wont play us” or “they get too much stuff from our own cities media” - but get into the politics of it all… talk about how Erskine gave us 60 mil one year, then gave carolina a combined 198 mil over 2 years and told us that “we got ours last year”. Tell them about how rumors had begun circulating about the possibility of a medical school and shortly there after Carolina started talking about putting a satellite campus of their med school in Charlotte, ultimately screwing us out of a potential medical program. When people realize that your not just saying dont wear carolina because you like duke, or because you just hate them for some stupid reason, and they realize you have a TON of legitamacy behind it, they will likely change their minds.

WE HAVE TO MAKE THEM REALIZE THAT IT HAS MORE EFFECT ON THEM THAN JUST SPORTS.

Good stuff. I agree on all this as well.

It happens at every school. I would be walking around between classes at ECU and would see kids dressed up in full UNC warmup suits. You’re not goin to change those people, though.

Also, regarding the politics of UNC, they did the same to us. They oppsed us becoming a full 4 year school. We got it and succeeded. They tried to keep us from getting a medical school. We got it and it is ranked top 10 nationally in certain categories every year. We have played football 11 times (I think), only 2 times in Greenville. They recently tried to stop us from getting a dental school. We have received approval and are working on getting that going now.

They dont want another school getting anything unless they get 10X that amount. Then they have to be elitist Aholes to boot!

If it’s any consolation, I sat/stood close enough to Lutz to hear even what he said during timeouts, and I heard no such chants. So it doesn’t even get down to the student section.

This really is a great idea. Maybe even at SOAR say something to the effect of “Really thin hard if this is where you want to be because the experience will be much better if you’re totally into it”.

I know at Texas A&M they make all freshman take a pep type class so they learn the traditions of the school and the chants for the football games.

That’s a good idea!! This should be the textbook:

Charlotte and UNC Charlotte : Growing up Together

Every graduate from Charlotte should read this book.

I think I was sitting one row above these clowns. Absolute idiots. One of them tossed a liquor bottle down into the lower bowl towards the end of the game. Tools I tell you, tools.

What does Beasley have to do with anything?

We must have been sitting right next to each other. That guy was about 3-4 rows above me as well and he kept yelling to Dew, Gerrity, and Ian to “get off the court whiteboy,” and “This can’t be good, we have 3 white boys out on the court at the same time.” I zoned him out until the Michael Beasley chant. The guy was an idiot and obviously knew nothing about bball. I even heard him say that if we would’ve got Beasley and Steph Curry on the team, Lee wouldn’t play. First off, retard, we didn’t even go after Steph Curry, and second, when they went head to head, Lee out-played him. You’d know this if you actually went to a game where we played an unranked team. I used to hate people like this when I went to school as well. Show up to the big games only and be a smartass the whole time to try to act like you know what you’re talking about. I held my tounge because I’m an alumni now and I’ve matured quite a bit in the 4 years I’ve been out of school, but if this happened while I was a student, I would’ve had some fightin’ words for him. I don’t know if it was him or not, but somebody above me threw something from up there as well and hit some of the girls that were sitting in the lower-upper section (if that made sense). There should be a sign on the outside of the building that sais, IF YOU ARE A DOUCHEBAG, NO ENTRY ALLOWED!!

IF YOU ARE A DOUCHEBAG, NO ENTRY ALLOWED!!

We can make some… I have the stencil letters if you get the spray paint and plywood.

Already done. I have the spray paint and plywood in my warehouse at work. Whenever we need it, let me know.

We should have a sign that says “NINERS ONLY: No Holes, Devils, etc allowed”

Agreed on the Niners Only thing. Maybe every game each of us claim our seats, then go to the top of the section they’re in and make sure nobody is admitted with any non-Niner gear?

We should have a sign that says "NINERS ONLY: No Holes, Devils, etc allowed"

We can do that too. Should we start a “sign thread?”

Coach Perrin #1, and #2 the worst part is that they were given tickets. The guy beside him is the Basketball coach or something at either Providence Day (which I think is the one) or Country Day, 2 private schools here in Charlotte.

I have UNCP football gear

:tumble:

Northwest Cabarrus - Hes a very good coach (my brother played them tuesday night) and the guy to the left of the carolina hoodie guy is a GREAT player and hes also one of the most personable kids ive ever met. My brother used to play AAU with him a few years back, and even to this day if I see him he’ll come up to me to say whats up (which most kids woudldnt do). I’m glad that kids like him are getting tickets to games (if they are given the tickets) because he’s the kind of person who understands the game and would enjoy the atmosphere - we need quality fans that understand basketball.

I wouldnt blaim this on the coach who brought the kids, you cant really control what kids wear - but i guarantee you if the kid comes back he wont be wearing carolina gear after being called out by one of our coaches .

pir8fan05 - thanks for your imput - I’m glad to hear we’re not the only ones who have problems with Carolina and the politics that they bring. Props to you guys from the standpoint of you guys are a university in NC where your fans, alumni, and my friends who go there dont get all “holier than thou” like many of my friends who went to UNC and NCSU. Hope you guys eat them alive next time you play them again.

Well we hear the same things you do from the NCSU and UNC-CH people (and we also dont get stories in the Observer unless its about a frat party being busted up or some other demeaning article, which there actually was a story on a party being broken up the day before classes in fall, like it doesnt happen at every school). So I would certaintly hope none of our people would act the same.
I definitely wont. I’ve always liked Charlotte’s campus and students (grew up here, went to Independence High) But I just wanted to get away from my hometown for school and I didnt want to be in the mountains, so it was ECU or UNCW. Couldnt be happier with my decision.

Still pull for Charlotte too. I’ve been trying to start going to some games here recently.

Wish we had a baseball series here this year.

I was up there at ECU this weekend. Great college town. You guys have soo much spirit out there! Everywhere I went there were people with ECU stuff on. All the local resturants and gas stations had something pirate related. Cubbies was AWESOME!
