Yea my first thought after the pick was “This is why we suck”. I hope I’m wrong and he’s the next Marvin Harrison, he almost has to be to justify a pick that high at WR.

Should we have taken an O lineman?
No----O Line is one of the best in the league and under contract for at least 1-2 more years.
Should have taken a D lineman or edge rusher , in my opinion.

Panthers didn’t think any of those DL or Edge’ were worth the #8 pick and didn’t get an acceptable trade offer for it…Im sure they’re going to address D-L with their next few picks.
He could not get seperation / get open in college how in the hell is he suppose to in the NFL?!?
Was not the best receiver on the board. Could have traded back for anything if he was your pick and still gotten him later in round
Besides Steve Smith look at all the receivers the Panthers have drafted and tell me their success. Tell me the physical build of most of these receivers. Now look at " TMac".

The amazing thing is that they rushed their pick… They had it in less than 30 seconds after the Jets pick was announced (of course ESPN immediately went to a maximum commercial break because: tradition when Panthers pick) which means absolutely zero hesitation. When it wasnt a DL or an Edge I was briefly hoping it was part of an unannounced trade.
He may end up being the best WR in history, but as you guys said, given what we need and what was on the board, he almost has to be to justify that pick.
I think they were betting on trading down and no one took them up on it so Dan Morgan just said “F it, let’s get the guy we were gonna draft 10-15 spots later anyway.”

That Edge from Marshall is still on the board. Doubt he lasts to our pick tonight.

DJ Moore was a good pick. But I agree with your general sentiment that the early rounds, “big” receivers have not panned out.

I can’t say that I’ve watched any of them enough to make an accurate judgement. Having said that, TMac was the highest rated receiver on most mock drafts that I saw, by people who have hopefully watched enough tape of all the receivers.

Golden had 4.29 40 speed and can run the complete route tree and was a beast after the catch.
I feel like this was a Tepper pick to prop up his Bryce pick and give him more chance to save face. There were some big time defensive help available to the worst ranked defense in the NFL.
Hard for me to believe Morgan made this as his pick. He said he wanted players that were dogs. TMac had a rep of taking plays off.
Hey just my opinion though but the thing about opinions is they are eventually proven right or wrong so I guess we will see in time.
