Carolina Panthers šŸˆā€ā¬›

It’s getting to the point I’m not sure if it’s Bryce or the coaching staff now, we don’t stretch the field at all, nobody on our team has speed and I don’t know if Bryce can actually throw it long accurately anyway. This all Teppers doing, he finally stayed out of it over the last few months but the last few years we have a bad reputation of a bad franchise, nobody worth a damn is going to come here now.

Tepper has not been involved for over 1.5 years. He hired Dan Morgan and gave him the keys, ā€œlet football people make football decisionsā€. Morgan hired Canales, they were at Seattle together. Canales decided to keep Evero when he came here, which IMHO will be the first puzzle piece taken off the table. IMHO, Evero needs to go, Canales has to give up play calling

I think the biggest question is do you extend Young after this year? Do you think this guy is worth spending $50m on, 20% of your annual cap, with what you will have see for 3 years? Me personally, no way

Unless something really changes I would not give Bryce an extension after the season. He can be a serviceable NFL qb but so far I just don’t think he’s done enough to force the Panthers into an extension to keep him from getting away or wanting out. See how the rest of this season goes and next year. Either he improves drastically and earns a new contract after next season or he doesn’t and you sign or draft someone else.

clt asks if panthers should extend baby bryce

I’m not on the ā€œIt’s all Bryce’s faultā€ bandwagon. Yes, he has his deficiencies, but it’s not him not blocking, not catching, and calling run plays when it’s 3rd and 15.

I’m with you VA. I think he has a definite ceiling as a QB, but he isn’t our main problem. We have a lot more of those we should be focusing on.

Still annoyed we traded away Theilen. That was a cruddy thing to do to Bryce.

I wonder if this team is Mike Hill’s fault too

If Bryce can not be more consistent (consistently decent/good that is) then no way would I extend him at the end of the season. I really wish we had not traded away Thielen, he was a valuable weapon for Bryce.

I have seen a lot of ā€œFire Canalesā€ stuff on twitter and I am not on board with that. We need to get away from this trend of hiring a new coach every year or every other year. He does need to give up the playcalling though.

I don’t think Bryce is the only problem or biggest problem the Panthers have. I just don’t think he is worth giving an extension and tying up a lot of money on a very average NFL quarterback when there are so many other deficiencies on the team.

Yeah those are two different questions but I think you answered them well @MHH2006 . I pretty much feel the same way with the exception that I’m willing to give Bryce the rest of the season before I pass final judgment. A run through bad teams / in the meaningless part of the season isn’t likely going to be enough to sway me that an extension is worth it. He would have to show me that he is a top third or better QB in the league against good teams.

This is the kind of shit that is going to keep us garbage I remember we traded up to get this guy also… in the last 7 years we haven’t had a decent player from rounds 3-6.

The entire Theilen this goes back to culture, articles were saying he wanted to be traded back to Minn to play his last year there… if it was the Patriots or Steelers they would have told him you are under contract too bad… we are a soft organization that doesn’t seem to really care about winning, some of the things we do in the draft and with players is just mind boggling.

I don’t know, my theory is Thelien was going to retire at the end of last year. He decided to come back, wife not happy, then he saw what a chit show this year was going to be. He was at the early workouts and first part of training camp. His wife and young kids were upset they have to live in 2 places, leave their friends . I think he went into Morgan’s office, said, nothing personal but I a going to retire or trade me to Min, when there were rumors that Min was inquiring about it. He loved Min, his family loves it, he is loved by the city, etc… He’s already made 90m, it’s not about money. Its about family life. Plus it’s not worth getting hurt from BY’s hospital balls over the middle.

He’s not much of a loss to be honest. He’s on my FF team. I can vouch he’s not doing squat, lol

He was Bryce’s safety blanket. Probably worth a whole lot more here than anywhere else because of that chemistry.

Wasn’t the prettiest game - especially the first qtr - but guys rallied for the win.

And we got a brief (Charlotte 49er) mention during the broadcast. 49 yard field goal.
