Obviously their are many jokes to be made about the greek dude. How about something about greek food. I’ll do some research to find any criminal activity/NCAA violations/other good material.
Man these guys are boy scouts. I couldn’t find any arrests from common media sources. I did find out that SLU fans have an obsession with Marquette. Hmmmm… I’m thinking Marquette Rejects.
They are also buidling a new arena. We could work with that. Something about a Rec Center or High School Gym.
Their fans seem to think they might be on the bubble. Thats funny. NIT bubble maybe.
Since this game is so important, maybe we should do the big one, the scourge of the opposition in halton. Hands shake, knees turn to jelly, passes go out of bounds and air balls fly when the students yell “You suck”.
Besides, its a little late to learn a new chant.

Better hope we can stop that Greek dude. Isn’t he their best player?

Marquette Rejects? SLU is ranked higher than Marquette.
High School Gym? They play in the St. Louis Blues arena.
Back in the day one of the most effective things was not a chant, but picking an opposing player that touches the ball a lot (G or SF) and yelling every time he touches the ball, just noise, it gets picked up pretty quick by the rest of the crowd and they join in, it gets mental for the other player.
The longer the chant the harder for people to pick up on. If a player looks like Opie or Webster, just chanting that every time they touch the ball will get picked up on quickly as well and over the course of the game it is effective.
We used to have a nickname for every opposing women’s basketball player and every time the ball changed hands, so did the chant… for example:
The big girl - Barkley
The red head - We started singing "The Sun will come out tomorrow…"
Girl with acne - Oxycream
etc. etc… every time the ball changed hands, so did the chant… now it was only 10-20 of us that started but soon enough everyone else picked up on it.
Too often by the time people understand what a chant is, it is stopped.

I was watching that St. Louis and Rhode Island game last night and the announcer said that he was the best big man in the A-10. Lets see how he does containing Curtis and scoring on our big men.
Marquette is actually ranked higher than Saint Louis. MU’s RPI is #20 and most are listing the Golden Eagles as a lock for the Big Dance. SLU is #92.
Yes, Ian Vouyoukas is the best center in the A-10 and is having a breakout year. He hit 17-18 FTs last night versus Rhode Island and finished with 27 points and 10 rebounds. Also, SLU’s Tommie Liddell will be the Rookie of Year in the A-10 and will be joined on the All-Rookie squad by Billiken teammate Kevin Lisch.
Finally, the Billikens play their home games in the 21,000 seat Savvis Center - a far cry from a rec center or high school gym.
“The Greek Guy” is a 4th year senior. He’s been in Charlotte plenty of times. He’s also damn good. Scares me to death that he could put Alex Loughton numbers on us this year. Not only has his game improved, he finally has multiple outside threats to keep opposing teams honest. A lot of credit has gone Soderberg’s way, but the truth about SLU is that Lisch and Liddell give SLU the slasher and the shooter they needed to pair with “Voukie” in the center for a good balance. The two frosh guards are young, but they will both be all conference players VERY soon. The one kid is a freakish athlete in the mold of Vincent Grier, albeit shorter, and the scrappy white kid is just that, and he can shoot some too.
They are one of the most underrated teams around, mostly because their youth showed early in the season when they were consistently inconsistent (WLWLWLWL), but now they’re starting to come together. Even when they were incosistent, they played a mostly even game with the Holes, @ Chapel Hill. Whatever the final was, they traded leads with them for the bulk of that game.
I like that this game is at home, but be prepared for the best SLU team we’ve faced in several years. They are pretty darn good.
I think the OPA would work out good. If someone knows more then just OPA we could make it sound like the real thing like in that Greek Wedding movie. LOL
Heres an idea I wanted to mention. How about actually chanting with what the band plays. They play that HEY song all the time and no one does the HEY when ur supposed to. Also we should maby sing the fight song as well? Another idea I had was, we will rock you, I mean its a classic, and when everyone stomps and claps, it has to have some kind of effect.
A funny thing I noticed in, I think it was UCLA or USC or something, was that when the count got into the last 10 seconds of so of the shot clock the crowd would chant the wrong numbers if the opposition had the ball. Ex if the clock was at 10, 9 8 they would chant 13, 12, 11 or 5, 4, 3. You follow? I mean I know they can see the clock, but I guess if there is a younger player out there that maybe is panicking and hears the time, maybe he frantically turns it over?
