Charleston Southern post-game

Not really. They lose only 4 starters from yesterday

They are having a great season, especially when you consider that they were winless only two seasons ago. They lost to both Wesley and non-scholarship Jacksonville in that season. That shows how important experience is when it comes to success in college football. They have gone from one of the worst teams in FCS to one of the best in only two seasons.

I hope never. Having said that, I ate dinner at the Crabhouse. :-X
was it worth it? We went to Sullivan’s

It was a beautiful day for a game. I thought we had a chance up until the last 7 minutes or so. That is really a pretty impressive feat for a start-up team when you think about it. Niner Nation showed up big for the game. I loved seeing all of our fans there.

Sitting in their stadium I was thinking about what a difference there is in our programs. We thought we were building a stadium and hiring a staff to be an FCS team for years to come. It is clear that we would have enjoyed a real recruiting advantage based on facilities. I almost wish we were staying around FCS for a while to see what happens. Almost.

We started the day with at least 75 Niners at Wild Wing Cafe, and the hostess told me that Charlotte is her dream school and she is trying to transfer there now. After the game we walked around the City Market and 6-8 people came up to us because we were wearing Niner gear and asked about our football team. We had a Duke fan from Shelby who had retired to Charleston say he thought our school was ready to be a real player in the state. We had dinner at Magnolias and 4 people came up to our table there and said asked about the game. One of the waitresses rushed over when we were finishing up and told us how excited she was about Charlotte starting football. She had gone to VCU and knew Charlotte from basketball, but did not have her own team to pull for. She said that her parents had gone to Clemson, so she pulled for them but needed her own team until VCU decided to start one and I guess Charlotte is it. What a difference football makes.

We lost the game, but I have never felt more optimistic about the path we are on.

It was pretty good, but like everything downtown it was a bit expensive.

yup lol

Those concerned about the D & O lines need to think back and remember how much bigger and probably stronger you were when you started your sophomore year vs your freshman year. Our linemen will get both bigger and stronger. I think we’re in good shape for a startup program.

Am I missing something. I think its clear that Kalif has established himself as the starter. 7 touchdowns, less carries, great hands, power back, speed, and oh did I mention no fumbles. You gotta believe that the coaches see his potential. He runs harder as the game goes on. Feed the monster!

They are a young team and didn’t really have that much more experience than we do. They have hardly any seniors starting. I think their O line had 2 Freshmen, 2 sophomores, and a Junior. Their depth is something we don’t have though.

The big difference in their success this season has been their new coach and the triple option offense. They also brought in their RB as a JUCO.

I wonder if this coach will even stick around after this season. He seems like he is off to bigger and better things.

Thanks for the welcome. I hope he will be ready for Coastal.

If he was hurt to the point of not playing, why put him back in for a meaningless snap on the final drive after Barnwell fumbled? ???
