This is our best team in the past few years and I expect improvement but what would get us back to the NCAA tournament?
Better Recruiting?
Change AD?
Football Success?
New Coaches?
In our current conference will we ever see consistent results like the Lutz years? I doubt it. I also question Price’s recruiting contacts coming in. Ivo is really the only hope for us to reach a new level under Price.
Recruiting seems to be the biggest issue. It picked up some with nice spring signees but we still need impact players. Our new Assistant’s foreign contacts should help with that. Better success on the court this year could also influence more top flight players to sign here.

It’s a broken record at this point, but the fact is all of our success from late 80s thru mid 2000s can be traced to Jeff Mullins. Where we are now, contracts and all, has all be built by Judy Rose. She might not take ownership of where we are but I lay it at her feet.

Considering that last year’s team was the worst since Hal Wissell, I guess the bar is low.
We need luck to get back to the NCAA Tournament. No one in C-USA is looking to build it into a multi-bid conference. So we just need a little bit of luck and we’re back.
He wasn’t given much time by our AD to fill his staff out.
I like Fancher though - if you can win at App that says something. Price corrected a major mistake Major made by putting a former HC on his bench. Now the thing is Fancheer didn’t bring much in terms of recruiting. Have to balance that out on the staff.
I agree Fancher is not a recruiter, but someone with head coaching experience was necessary for Price’s
transition to college and head coaching.
I think Price is a good coach for us, and its time to bring someone aboard that is a recruiter and has the contacts (Dink?) The AD just has to come off the hip for the $ to make it happen.
We lost 3 ACC caliber players in one fell swoop…Woods, Dorn and Izundu. Izundu because he was
sold on Major, but the other two ??? AD ???
Success this year and a good recruiting class (Simovic) should put us in a good position to become relevant again and get us well on the way to where we expect and desire to be !
This is my prayer for the day !
We have to land coaches that can land solid recruits, we are never going to get elite guys, but we need to win our share of 2 and low 3 star kids.
Then we HAVE to coach them up in a system that helps us win.
We aren’t ever going to win on talent alone and the guys that can coach up terrible rosters are rare.
I know Bobby had his warts, but his early recruiting and system is what we need. We need to land solid but not spectacular HS talent, pick up some transfers and JUCOs to plug holes and run a fun offensive and defensive systems that while perhaps not the most methodical, even the playing field some when playing more talented squads.
Speaking to recruiting, I’m surprised we haven’t hit the inbound transfer market harder. I think Simovic’s ability to land MM+ kids with International ties will help. Another part to that puzzle is we know he’ll get kids, so one our other coaches identify kids we really like and think we can get, they can go all out on them.

clt says we need wku to be top 15 rolling into haltron.
Mitchell Robinson’s exodus from Bowling Green may turn out to be a blessing in disguise for the Hilltoppers. The fact that Rick Stansbury let him go so quickly and then Will Wade passed says something. Still, would have been nice having the publicity for C-USA, which now will spend another regular season in anonymity.

I think it says more about Robinson, sad but he probably has a lot of issues if Stansbury was so quick at letting him go and no one took a chance on him. Could’ve dogged a bullet though you are right(for WKU).
I was wondering, couldn’t we convene a committee in an effort to get a men’s basketball program? I think it would look great if alumni and students could march to the football stadium and demand that we get a men’s basketball program started on campus. Maybe several students could carry a basketball goal during the march. The optics would be great.

I mean it worked for us to get football.
Just saying.
Would be funny but counterproductive.

If we rally for anything it needs to be a new AD.
We are just going to have to wait until that train leaves the station. It can’t be too much longer before departure, can it?

That would be a good way to make national news and scare off recruits.
