I like the new font. I like going to a one color logo. I like the concept better than the execution. The video is great, and #BoldRush is a nice tag line. I mean it’s no “Hop on the Bus”, but it’s pretty good.
Tuesday has to be more stuff, because otherwise there is no point in doing that event.
The logo reveal was originally set for the spring. Phil asked to delay until after 4/30 events and AD decided to then drop after graduation. Covid messed all that up. New court install happening at Halton made the need to release now. Things had to start getting installed for the fall. This has nothing to do with master plan delay.
As for closeness to Lews design, I’ll let him share but he was in contact with AD.
Last I heard color shift was to NJ Jets green and ND gold. There are some other parts of this coming on Tuesday. I’m a big fan and think this is absolutely the right time and style for what we need and corrects nearly all of the mistakes of the old logo.
Finally the CLT part of rebrand is perfect. I love that.
I love the new logo. We needed something simpler which we got with this. The colors just look crisper. It comes at a great time. If we can make a run of bowl games and our bball team into the tourney, this simplified brand will stick with people way more than the c pick logo or any others we’ve used the last 10 years. It also still pays homage to the c-pick in it’s simple design. I love it.
There is nothing about this logo that says Charlotte or 49ers. It doesn’t look like a C or a pick axe. It looks like a silhouette of a jet flying through the sky.
Unless the strategy is to tease with the bad stuff first and wow later, Tuesday likely won’t be any better.
The green and gold are great ideas. What is the big white block for? Not so good.
When it comes to branding, in the immortal words of Crosby, Stills and Nash, we never fail to fail.
Our uniform combos with the Gold helmets & prior c pick logo looked amazing…and were a huge hit with recruits & players. No way this helmet (or green logo on white helmet) is gonna be more hype with high school kids and recruits than the recent metallic gold look with the prior logo.
And I can’t imagine this logo, in green I’d assume, working at all on a metallic gold helmet either.
I think this would happen with any fan base. Any change is difficult to get everyone on board with. But if we were changing to make our logo more recognizable & easier for the average person to see the link to our university this one kind of fails in my opinion. That’s not whining. Just stating my opinion. I’m still optimistic there is more to come on Tuesday that will make everyone happier.
