Charlotte Baseball - Week of April 7th

2-3 on the week. Gave two of them away with unearned runs. Pitching was solid. Ryan Butler tossed a gem on Saturday. He went the distance while giving up one run in a 4-1 win. We’ve got to hit better. Back to conference play this weekend.

I wonder if we will go with Shive or Vogler on Wednesday since we only play 4 this week? They saw Shive 2 weeks ago.

FAU was picked to finish 2nd in C-USA but they have struggled and are down at the bottom of the standings with us. They did beat a nationally ranked Florida team last week.

my guess is Corbin again.

Vogler did only throw 4 2/3 innings on Friday, but it took 83 pitches. Thats a little high for my liking.

However, I am not the coach, nor did I stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night.

Shive it is.

Corbin has done a nice job this season. I feel good about him getting the start tomorrow.

it looks like we have given up 39 UNEARNED RUNS before today’s Winthrop game. I haven’t seen the official scoring, but I think we just hit the OVER 40 mark in the first inning of today’s game.

I think we’re AT 40, but stick around. OVER can’t be far behind.

Lost at Winthrop 5-2…

OVER is seldom behind and when he is, he is never far behind.

CONFERENCE USA WEEKEND PREVIEW (APRIL 11TH-13TH)

Charlotte (8-22, 1-11)-Florida Atlantic (17-15, 5-10)

Charlotte got out of CUSA last weekend, but dropped three games to a good Evansville baseball team. They rank third from last in the conference in both average (.242) and ERA (4.07). The bright side, they’re running into a team that has been just as cold as them.

FAU has lost eight of its last 11 games and has dropped their past three CUSA weekend series. They’ve done this despite being in the middle of the pack in average at .275 as well as in ERA at 2.88. Drew Jackson has been their best starter so far this season with a 4-0 record, 2.52 ERA and 42 strikeouts in 50 innings.

Friday, 6:30 p.m. ET – Cory Roberts vs. Austin Gomber
Saturday, 4 p.m. ET – Ryan Butler vs. Drew Jackson
Sunday, 12 p.m. ET – Brock Hudgens vs. Jeremy Strawn

Baseball America just did a nice scouting report on Ryan Butler. Says he may be a top 5 round pick in the upcoming draft.

Errors kill us again. Blow a 2-0 lead, leave 12 men on base. Error in the 9th eventually turns into the winning run for FAU. We lose 3-2 in a walk-off. :frowning: :frowning:

Didn’t see tonights game but I’m more disappointed in the 12 LOB than the errors.

The runners LOB this season is difficult to comprehend.

Hopefully this season is a learning experience for all involved.

Jobu prefers rum and cigars. He also only works on bats. We need a glove voodoo doll.

Interesting comments about offensive strategy.

The boys got it going on Sunday and had FAU down 11-1 after 7 when C-USA’s 10 run rule kicked in. Nice to get one out of the weekend anyway.

TJ swung the bat well all weekend. How many hits did he end up with on the series? 7 or 8?
