My issue with them is that they suck up water and we’re constantly in a state of drought. We don’t have enough water for people, let’s not use it to cool a bunch of computers. Let them build them near the Great Lakes where fresh water is plentiful.
clt says modern data centers recycle water. they do use a lot of power.
Water recycling systems generally don’t actually recycle as much water as they say. For example, we have built a lot of car washes. They say their reclamation systems allow them to recycle 70% of the water they use. However, in practice they are at more like 30%.
