That guy should try being a Niner fan.

i know that GIF

The pick makes absolute sense if your committed to Ball long term.

If that’s the case then you don’t bring in another PG.

Miller is very talented and all the experts I listened to said he and Henderson both could have easily been a number one pick in other drafts.

He has a higher ceiling than Henderson with his size and shooting ability.

I think these fans are nuts.

This was a perfectly rational pick.

I was actually worried the Hornets WOULD pick Scoot Henderson.

I agree with this. I think picking a 6’9" SF who can shoot the rock is much better than getting a 6’1" PG who can’t shoot. This is much more complimentary to our future.

The knock on Miller seems to be his inability to finish inside and poor handles.

clt adds the whole murder thing as well

Not charged. Poor judgment yes. A crime no.

Yep, the whole shooting episode was poorly handled by Alabama and particularly Nate Oats. Should have immediately suspended Miller until it was determined he wasn’t culpable in the matter. Plus the whole thing with the tone deaf pre-game player introductions that immediately followed. All in all a textbook example of a PR nightmare.

This.

Handles can improve, he can get stronger, I’d always pick a guy that can shoot or you end up with another MKG… can’t believe they took years ago…

FWIW, the case wasn’t closed. Determined that Miller wasn’t involved in the shooting, for which two were charged with capital murder, including since dismissed Bama hoopster Darius Miles.

I’m glad all of these people wanted the hornets to pick up, yet another, undersized guard. Brandon Miller will be good in the league. When he puts on a little more weight, you all will see that this is the right pick.

Miller was absolutely the right choice.

IMHO, the only reason you pick Miller over Henderson is if you have already made the decision to bring Bridges back. Otherwise, seems logical to me, if you are drafting in the top 3, you are there for a reason. Pick for talent and upside. All accounts on Miller have been, spot up shooter, can’t create for himself and got shut down in big games. Not to mention, the uncertainty of the Lamelo future here. But I am a Hornet fan, will continue to go to games and watch. Hope I am proven wrong. Remember Kobe was drafted here, wanted bigger market, didn’t come. Wemby would have been great here, doesn’t seem to care about that. IMHO

FWIW, Kobe being drafted here was prearranged with the Lakers. He was never going to be a Hornet. Not sure why he presented a ā€œrevisionistā€ take on it before he died.

In my opinion Scoot’s ceiling is lower than Miller’s because he will always be 6’2". Miller has so many things you look for in an NBA player today. Great 3 point shooter, over 8 rebounds a game in high school & college, a pretty good defender & he will always be 6’8"-6’9". He can play 3 different positions & lots of college freshmen struggle in big games. Getting Nick Smith later in the first round is great insurance if Lamelo does leave for La La land in a few years. Scoot will probably make me eat my words but I just don’t see enough difference in upside between the 2 to take a 6’2" guard who doesn’t have a great outside shot & plays the same position as your biggest star.

Yes, this is correct. So many people get this wrong. Also, people forget that Kobe wasn’t a consensus ā€œhall of fameā€ player. He was highly rated, but no one knew what he would become either.

It always amazes me how much money an average NBA player can make considering the league’s limited popularity.
