It will be interesting. If either Bailey or Edgecombe live up to their potential, I think both can help the team. Even though from what I’ve read, Bailey has the higher ceiling, I’d probaly lean towards Edgecombe right now. With Ball and Miller being your 2 center pieces, you need some one with toughness, who’s going to do the little things, hustle plays, defensive effort, etc. Edgecombe seems more inclined to adopt that role than Bailey.
SA could put a wrinkle in all of the planning though. They don’t necessarily need Harper. Do they trade their ppick. Or do they go against the grain and take Bailey.
I agree. I think SA could throw a wrench into everyone’s mock draft. If I’m drafting for the Hornets, I’m taking VJ, Tre, or Kon. I’m leaning towards VJ, but I have another month to find out what they do.
Philly doesn’t need Harper either. Meaning he could fall to the Hornets. I would think the Hornets might try trade the pick if that happens. Then Knueppel and Tre Johnson really do come into play.

Apparently Bailey as a top 3 is looking less likely due to some questionable pre-draft advice:
Someone explain to me why the Hornets are not looking at Khaman Maluach if they don’t think Mark Williams is the answer at center, which they obviously don’t since they traded him.
Get Maluach and trade Williams.
FWIW, Bleacher Report has the Hornets picking Maluach at #4.
(Also Brice going #53 to the Jazz.)
Of course, all these mocks are just guesses after Flagg and Harper. We’ll know for sure next week.
I will be surprised if they don’t draft Maluach. They obviously wanted to go a different direction at center.
Hopefully the new regime will not do something stupid like they did when they drafted Duren and traded him away.
Listened to Matt Norlander and Adam Finkelstein podcast today about next week’s draft. Former thinks Hornets will take Kon Knueppel, while latter believes it will be Tre Johnson.
Knueppel is not the high upside pick in this draft. He’s the high floor pick. They need to swing for the fences on a more high upside pick.
Went back and re-listened to the section in which they discussed the Hornets. Finkelstein actually said VJ Edgcombe while an individual off camera - probably the program producer who Finkelstein called a Hornet fan - had Johnson as his pick.
FWIW, Norlander said Knueppel is one of his four “can’t fail in the NBA” players in this draft. Anyway, we’ll know in a week who the newest Hornets are.
Don’t get me wrong I think Knueppel will be good. But I also don’t think he is gonna be an all star.
