What Team exactly do you believe in? So far, with pretty much all the “players” already picking new dance partners, this looks like nothing like more than a salary dump. Bystander view, the new owners didn’t know how expensive it was to run/own a team and they are trying to reduce expenses. Not once has the hornets been mentioned as a team in discussions with other teams for a player already signed. Reminds me of Dave Gettleman, shopping at the dollar store. Let’s see in a couple of months how those season tickets renewals are doing. How many times can you ask the fans for patience while starting over???
I was going to hold out hope to see what happened with Jaylen Brown but he’s going to Phily so not sure what all those picks are worth now.

Obviously you are not a season ticket holder and have had to pay to witness this junk on the court for the past 7 years. We finally get a team that was fun to watch and improving, 25 game YtY, and then we hear again, trust the process, we are building for the long term. I waited to see, how are we going to use that $40m trade cap exception (goes away after this year)? How are we going to use the 11 second round picks we have stock piled and the 7 1st round picks we received/have? I get it Scollie, as 49er fans we are conditioned to starting over all the time and some just think it is the norm (pun intended).

Scollie, I know I am mentally unstable. Being a fan of the 49ers, Panthers and Hornets is basically being in sports purgatory. Just once, just once, 1 of the 3, I would like nice things. Not shinny new things, I can’t expect that. Just something respectable.
I feel your pain too. My son will occasionally ask why we aren’t fans of good teams. It can be very frustrating. That Hornets half a season felt good and promising. I think the GM has a plan and the trades aren’t bad. They really need a starting level point guard. They have great depth now and are a lot more physical/defensive minded. They might be a better team right now, but they need someone to organize and distribute. They haven’t replaced that yet, and I don’t know that Colby is that person.
Dorian Finney Smith is a good player.
If he has recovered fully from that injury and can capture most of his previous form we will be pleased with the signing.
Or they may end up rerouting him before the trade deadline.
Who the heck knows what will happen.
After trading Ball, I do think they were trying for one more transaction that never materialized. Whether or not that was Jaylen Brown, I don’t know.
Interestingly, we traded Sexton for Coby White. Sexton just signed with the Lakers for 2 years at $19M, while we signed White for 3 years at $74M. White is a bigger body. But outside of that, I’m not sure he’s worth an additional $15M more per season.
The Hornets are clearly retooling and stacking assets. Will be interesting to see if they make any more big moves this off-season or if this is a longer term strategy.
You won’t win a championship with lamelo as one of your top 3 players. I stopped watching hornets games for moral reasons because of bridges. It made me sick to explain to my kid why the crowd cheered when he was subbed in mid 2nd quarter in his first game back from suspension. Hornets front office made 2 of the best trades I’ve seen them make this off-season since I can ever remember.
Buzz actually led 38-32 in 2nd quarter. No Summer League title this go round.
It’s difficult to make too much out of summer league. Having said that, I will say I was hopeful for better performances from some of the players. McNeeley has been a nice surprise. But I was hoping for a little more out of Kalkbrenner, Salaun, Steinback and Anderson.
I’m looking for a break out year for McNeeley!
