Itās good that we made the presentation. I think most of our fans would want us to compete against their teams and, frankly, I think a lot Socon fans would enjoy hating us as an opponent.
That being said, theyāre not the only ones who can say āwe can take you or leave you.ā Iād prefer it if we funded a marching band (remember that the music dept really stepped up to the plate during the whole Spangler incident) and put up some lights for high school teams to play under on fridays (nice for relationship-building with the hs coaches). If we had to scrap the funding for either so that we can pay socon membership fees instead, then staying fcs independent would be a better idea imho.
I want to move up to DI-A asap as do our fansā¦but I have to admit, I wouldnāt mind being in the SOCON for a bit before the jump. Can you imagine the gameday scene if App plays us at home? This could become a very easy hated rivalry. Something to really grab the folkās attention in Charlotte and get primed for our move up in the future. I think this would be a good move.
They know we are going to get a lot of the non-ACC guys they have been getting for years an ddo not like it.
Yep. They KNOW the Charlotte area has more to offer than the Boone area. Of course, we donāt have constant cold, snow, and little to see and do unless you like to ski and climb rocks all the time. Having said that, I LOVE to visit the Boone area anytime, but I would NEVER want to be a college student there. :))
I think we have a lot to bring to the SoCon table but if we think weāre moving up to FBS ASAP, Iām not convinced the SoCon is a great idea. If we are not careful SoCon membership will be like our basketball series with Davidson. We can be much better for them than they are for us.
I think its highly unlikely that we go socon all sports. If it came down to it and we HAD to move basketball Iām sure the AD would welcome the idea of the caa long before the socon.
Iād prefer staying Indy. if not CAA or SoCon. In fact, I might prefer Indy. over those as well. That would tell everyone we are fast-tracking to FBS.
