If that were to happen, and I’m not saying it shouldn’t, it needs to be worded cleverly and not accusative. Perhaps something like “What can we do to give ourselves a better opportunity to land a medical school? Since it is in the best interest of the university to have an independent medical school”.
I don’t think a question like “why are you supporting the current plan?” will get a great response. He will get defensive. We need to act like we think he is own our side. “I know you are aware of how important this is and are trying to do whatever WE can”, blah blah blah.

I know. It’s sad. Just saying this medical school is probably going to happen before we get a new chancellor. So I think it’s in our best interest to act like he knows getting an independent medical school is extremely important and that he’s doing all he can to make it happen.

Had a great time seeing some old and new faces. Was great to meet Major. You could tell he was somewhat nervous (to be expected). Seems like a great guy and can’t wait to see how things shape up for him this year.
