I thought about this last night when the Joshua Johnson tweet was posted here. Scary to think our leftover staff could be out offering scholarships to players if they aren’t going to be here. Even scarier thinking that our leftover staff is going to be here.

I guess that should read he intends to enter the transfer portal, which is currently closed except for grad students.

Kind of thought players might wait & see who we hire but I guess they might as well jump back in the portal if they can. Not likely but they can always decide to stay if they like the new coach.

Since portal is now closed, players are actually announcing intention.
How does that work? I thought for some reason they could enter outside the timeframe, but if they did, they had to sit out unless they get a waiver after the fact. The guy who entered was D2 right? Does that make it different

Grad students are allowed to enter at any time. Jackson is a rising senior academically but basically a RS junior after sitting out this past season at Washington State due to a non-disclosed health issue. Has three years of eligibility left.
Yea, they where. They don’t have dorms…not sure about Gaston but they are a Juco.
Mac, correct that Jackson will have to apply for a waiver since the portal has been closed for a month. Would think NCAA will do the “right thing” here, but no guarantees on that.

Just another example of why Ron Sanchez sucks.
He could have left at the end of the season.
Instead he stayed and did maximum damage to the program and then bounced leaving everyone in a lurch.
I’m not saying that I wish he was still here.
I wish he had been a good person and left at the end of the season instead of feeding everyone a big sack of horse manure.

Guess the big question is when did Bennett approach Sanchez about returning to UVA? We know that assistant Kyle Getter left Charlottesville to join Micah Shrewsberry at Notre Dame in mid-April, thus opening up the vacancy on the Cavs staff. If Tony and Ron have been working on the “reunion” since then, definitely a crap move to wait until June to make it official.
