Excellent article. I’m not sure if I would say it’s unsustainable, however. If people are willing to pay then athletic departments are willing to spend. It’s just market forces. Everyone complains about college costs, but they typically don’t notice until after they’re already all in. Everyone wants premiere dorms, incredible on campus dining, and top college athletics, but nobody wants to spend.

I would like for the NCAA to require spending guidelines, that x % of athletic revenues must go to support academics or non athletic infrastructure.
