clt provides story on cincy's efforts to join big 12

clt wonders what we are doing?

They will get in. It may not be for a few years, but they’ll get in. WV will push for them, they seem to have OU support, and they have a good athletic and academic profile. It’s just a matter of time. The real question is who else does the big xii take?

My money is on Memphis.

Longer it takes the better for us but how attractive is the AAC if Cincinnati leaves? Does UConn stay in a weaker AAC?

Stories like this always make me disappointed how behind the curve we are.

I just don’t see that happening because it would only ensure they never get into the acc or big 10.

Why would the Big 12 want Cinci when they can have Charlotte? There is no way Cinci’s football stadium is as nice as ours.

Actually, if they’ll hold out long enough on expansion, we could at least make a case for skipping the AAC altogether. It sounds ridiculous, but read some of the reasons being cited for Cincy.

We’d absolutely have to build out our football stadium though, and trick it out. It’d have to be our show piece along with our campus, market, and healthier hoops program. We’d need business support too.

What choice do they have?

Move back to FCS football or go independent FBS and take their basketball to the Big East.

Perhaps we will play Cinci in a future matchup in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge.
