On another note, I guess I never realized how ugly your campus buildings are until seeing this photo. If you plopped those down in a less beautiful setting I think y’all might have the ugliest campus in the state.
Same result? A back and forth battle where the difference in the game was on special teams? Should be a good one then.

What time-frame do you think is reasonable for Charlotte football to move to the next level and what do you think is or should be the next level?
Well my hope is we move to phase 3 on 9/12 and we can go to 30% capacity crowds for our remaining 3 home games.
What I expect is King Cooper keeps us in phase 2 until mid October at the earliest and we will have no fans in attendance for the season.

At this point our recruiting has finally caught up to where it should have been a few years ago. I think we have 2-3 years of of like last year 7-6, 6-7 type seasons with mid conference finish before we can expect another jump. I guess 2022 or so would be when I expect to make that next step to expecting to finish ok top 2 of conference competitive for conf champs and expected to win bowl game.
That would mean from first class to expectations to be a solid winner was a decade. A year or two later than I probably originally had hoped, but still to go from no program to winning consistently in a decade is something I think most of us wood would be happy with. If we go faster no one would complain.
You don’t have a real fan base until they are complaining about winning too fast. Fans gotta complain.
There have been a few programs that started from scratch around the same time. It will be interesting to see where they all land 10, 15, and 20 years out.

Fans from several of the old-school C-USA teams, like Marshall and Southern Miss, told us at the beginning that it would take a decade, but I didn’t want to hear that. I have learned that football is so much different than basketball, and one, or even a couple of players can’t make that much difference, and even having a good first string is just not good enough. I now appreciate being on the right path, and I definitely feel that we are. It has really gone by faster than I thought it would.
clt is hearing concerns out of Boone nc about mobile ticketing being an issue due to lack of smart phones. Very ironic., don’t cha think?
It’s taken us 15 yrs to get basketball back on track and that was with a successful history - really reflects how important the right coach is.
On one side basketball is easier because one player can make a huge difference. Another perspective though is it’s easier to find diamonds in the rough with football and with the right coaching and drive they can make it tk the next level and reflect positively on the program - See Larry.
I expected a 8-10 year journey or so to really see success once we announced FBS move. Lambert’s terrible recruiting is likely what’s pushing us on the 10 year side of that.
In hindsight his hiring probably would have been fine for FCS but he was just in over his head with FBS and cost us a few years.
I guess what I’m saying is hire the right guys and the rebuild/build goes fast. Hire the wrong guys and it turns into a challenge that may take many more years.
