They donโt have that Evans kid anymore which is big also. With him and Sutton out, I feel slightly more confident about our defense.

He did use past tense, and I am guessing he is not coming back, but he was going to be sitting a few games to start this year due to his ACL recovery from last year. In the article in the Greensboro paper which is lifted from the sister Winston-Salem paper there was a comment about returning next year as a possibility. We shall see. He could be NFL talent but having another year to produce for NFL scouts would certainly help his case as is the case for any Great 5 player.
His dad was at App in the 90s and I am sure that is part of how we were able to pull him from Kansas. Even more telling and getting more to the point of losing the team: it was also mentioned in the article that Suttonโs younger brother is coming to Boone next year. I doubt that would be the case if Corey was holding a grudge against our new coach. Corey would be pushing his younger brother to another school more than likely.
Our players were lobbying hard for Clark to get the HC position. That does not guarantee kumbaya feelings forever going forward but between the years he has been around the same players and the fact Clark was successful in the bowl game then I can not imagine anything that could have happened in the off-fseason that would lead to him losing the team so soon. And if something would be going on, the rumor mill would be a least a little active. Had he lost the bowl game then OK, there could be some grumblings, but the bowl game was yet another decisive victory over another C-USA team, after a bit of a slow start in the game.
