Coaches Show @ Blackfinn TONIGHT

SWEET!!! :p
Imagine our home game in this would be at BoA.
Excuse me. NA is the resident wet blanket. Know your role.

Or after we expand. Couldnt we play in at JRS with 25,000? if we are scheduling out 4-5 years.

I’ll wet blanket this again. Sure we could, but I’m sure ECU would refuse.

I heard 2 people at tonight’s soccer game say they heard ECU will not play us at JRS unless we expand, which makes sense. I think the question now is how big our stadium needs to be for a home and home with teams like ECU. Of course, playing this game downtown will be a lot of fun too but we will lose most of our home field advantage.

How many tickets does ECU get for other away games? While I suspect they could put 20,000 or more in the stands I can’t imagine anyone else is giving them that many tickets.

ECU is one of the few schools I would not have a problem playing in BOA. If the two schools combined to pack the stadium and made it a big event it would be worth it I think.

I don’t see us bringing more fans to BOA than ECU. I’m not sure why we’d play them there in the near future.

Even ECU/USC didn’t sell out and USC is a considerably better draw for ECU fans and we have a fraction of the fanbase USC has.

clt says we shall only play UNC-East at the rich. No need to play at b of a bc we wouldn’t fill the place up.

Nice. Some exciting news from tonight’s show, though the CCM injury is a bit of a bummer. Looks like we are down our top 2 LBs.

RE: ECU - I wouldn’t want to play at BofA. Either get them in the Rich for a home game or dont bother. $.02

Why?

The atmosphere at the Rich for that game would be absolutely electric… no doubt sold out and likely many more looking for tix.

The atmosphere at a 1/3rd full BofA? Meh… And it would not be a home game for us anyhow. More likely a 50-50 crowd at best.

Wonder if we could bring in some extra temp seats for that game (regardless of expansion)?

I think an ECU game in the Rich has potential to draw at least 30k and maybe as many as 40k. This would be our shot to say “HEY, LOOK AT US” to the college football world. Let’s not blow this opportunity because it may mean having to stand in line to pee.

I’m very nervous about CCM’s injury. This is the kind of injury that costs us games as we cannot replace him. This situation reminds me if the injuries to our DL’s last season.

I disagree. If we can get 16,000 for D2 schools, we can certainly get 25,000+ for ECU. I doubt they would actually bring anymore than that. As someone else said ECU and USC didn’t even sell it out.

This! ECU is not Alabama. We were 1-2 years away from being in the same league with them.

Wholeheartedly agree with this. The App and ECU games need to both be feature games at the Rich. We won’t have better atmosphere than those games.

Football isn’t like basketball. It isn’t just planning a schedule to get in the requisite conference games, etc within the alloted time frame. There are only SIX dates a year. So you have only six opportunities to put on a show for the fanbase and the general public. Each game needs to be treated as an event in its own right. And major games like these become extra special events and need to be planned for and marketed accordingly. If that means bringing in temp seats, special promotions, heightened air time on TV and radio prior to the game, etc. Take the opportunity to hype the event and build on the anticipation of the event in any way possible to build the brand.

Two years from the event (yeah, just two), no one will remember if we played WKU at home or away that year, but they damn sure will remember “that ECU game back in 20XX”… I know its that way for me with UT games. All I can remember with vivid clarity is every Florida game I went to in the late 90s early 00’s, and when we brought in big name opponents like UCLA, etc.

On 610 this morning, Lambert once again talked about upcoming games with Kentucky and Tennessee. He really knocked it out of the park this AM, but he almost always does in interviews

Well said!

IIRC, they archive their interviews. Would love to hear that one.

I would love to play ECU on campus as well, Tulane and Tulsa (their conference mates) both have 30,000 seat capacities. I know ECU won’t come here with a 15K, but if we have 25K (maybe could be done with 5k permanent and 5k temporary seats ?), then we have a good shot of getting it. I’m getting pumped just thinking about the electric atmosphere that would be there for that game. I really hope this gets done. I think it would be good for them as well, would be a ton of press surrounding this game

Did he confirm the year of the UT game?
