I thought it might be nice to have a thread where people who arenāt able to attend the Coachās Caravan can list out some questions that they would like those of us in attendance to ask. I plan on asking about football scheduling (specifically extending the App series, and of the potential of games with State and Wake) and/or about the CUSA TV deal.
This is a fabulous event, and anyone who is any kind of Niner fan will have a blast interacting with the coaches so please come out if you can. If not, let us know what youād like to find out and weāll see if we can pump them for some information
Ask Lambert if heās disappointed that we havenāt announced a plan for expanding the stadium, despite 95% reported attendance in the first three years. ;D

Iād be curious how realistic Lambert thinks it will be that we will not have a 3-headed QB system this season.[/quote]I think that only happens if we have a disaster on our hands. We brought in guys so we wouldnāt have that problem. If there was a chance at a rotation, I donāt think Keith would have transferred out.
Will he have more trick plays up his sleeve, especially in regards to special teams? Last season was pretty mundane. Weāll need to see some on-sides kick come from nowhere if weāre going to get some wins weāre not expected to. More wildcat formations involving Klugh and Johnson to help take the pressure off Kalif. I could go on but Iāll stop in case spies are reading thisā¦
-Olsen showed clear separation at QB. We also pulled the no contact jersey off our QBs in the spring to get a better feel for what we had at that position. It feels like we have a strong #1 at QB (woot!).
-Fain looked great in the spring, and is expected to get 15 or so snaps a game spelling Ogunjobi.
-We are interested in extending the series with App.
-Wake wanted a 2 for 1, we passed (I personally agree with this decision 100%, 1 for 1 or not at all with them)
-There was a SEC chant
-He talked about the interesting match-up problems that are created when Matt is in at RB.
-WRs are our deepest most talented position and weāve got to get them the ball more.
There was a lot of kidding about the Bahamas Bowl, but I think there is a little seriousness behind all the tongue and cheek comments. I think they feel like we are close. I friggen love these events, and once again they have Chidaveās strongest endorsement. $20.00 for drinks, food, and one on one time with the coaches is a Tubman well spent :).

I talked to Lambert and he said SEC talk is good for them. When I asked about SEC he said we canāt keep stadium size, but was coy when I asked about expansion. He talked about big 12 making moves and the impact it would have. Said Big 12 guys at some recent event were giving him a hard time about being lowest paid SEC coach.
I asked Judy about SEC and she said they are monitoring the situation daily and that they are not sitting still, but are engaged. She said biggest challenges are our name and % of support from alums. She acknowledged that she canāt do anything about the name, but we have to get more alumni on board. She did mentioned that anytime anyone visits campus they are amazed. She referenced UNLV and another schools ADs, who she was on selection committee with, visiting campus and being blown away. She said anytime officials set foot on campus they are sold on us. She also mentioned our markets has gone up from #24 to #22.
Price didnāt have much to say that we havenāt heard. He did mention to me that some of the guys that sat out last season will be better than the guys we had playing. Said we wonāt have the big man in the middle but we will be more athletic and run even more. He said the offensive firepower will be extremely solid. When I asked about Davidson, explaining how much I hated them, he said there is a reckoning coming.

Given our large alumi population specifically in Charlotte we are not tapped into that. The name piece she said is a challenge because uncc doesnāt sound like a name that belongs in a big conference and brings a mental image of campus that requires a trip to campus to dispel.

clt says Judy sounds like a poster on this chat board.
What I take is that if we want a grass roots effort to impact conference alignment we need to focus on name and alumni involvement. Since the name thing isnāt changing under Phile we need to mobilize our efforts in getting more alumni involved both at games and giving.
Hypothetical Question: What would Philās reaction be if the SEC did actually come knocking on our door and say we are under consideration but we have to change our name? I hope the āname issueā does not become a reason/excuse we are held back. It has not held back USF, UCF, or UCLA.
There is no argument from me regarding the Alumni and Giving, but I think we would see a dramatic change if we would jump to a better conference, assuming the school reached out to them. Once we got rolling, many of our alums would want to jump on the bandwagon.
