They picked up an '08 commitment and he had this to say in a rivals article:

“They have a good coach and a good staff. I know I’m going to be comfortable there,” he said. “They are moving to a new conference in a couple of years and it’s going to be for competition. Plus, I love their campus there. I visited earlier in the summer.”

thoughts?

The CAA already has 12 teams. I don’t see any of them leaving anytime soon, especially not in a window of 5 years (when this kid will be playing). and does the CAA really want another non football school? Are some of the football schools going o the CAA and he CAA schools without football coming to the a10?

CofC needs to stay put in the Southern Conference. I don’t see the CAA as wanting to travel further than Wilmington. Besides, Cremins will be gone before he finishes college.

Agreed

C of C was in the Sunbelt Conference (where they earned NCAA Tournament bids in 1994, 1997, & 1998). Then they switched to the Southern Conference in 1999:

1999 NCAA - 25-2 1st in division
2000 No Bid - 20-6 1st in division
2001 No Bid - 20-7 1st in division
2002 No Bid - 20-8 1st in division (tied)

(Southern Conference eliminates divisional format in 2003)

2003 No Bid - 22-7 1st
2004 No Bid - 19-9 2nd

(Southern Conference returns to divisional format in 2005)

2005 No Bid - 18-10 2nd in division
2006 No Bid - 15-11 3rd in division
2007 No Bid - 22-11 2nd in division

I don’t blame them for wanting to leave.

CofC was never in the SunBelt. They were in the TAAC.

I’m confused. Did he specifically say CofC was moving to the Colonial, or is that speculation on our part? Anyway, Cat is right – CofC was never in the Sun Belt. The old TAAC is now the Atlantic Sun.

Also, why is this thread in this forum and not in Collegiate Sports?

I just checked the CofC board and they’re not sure what to make of those comments either. There is one poster who says CofC has twice turned down overtures from the CAA in the past.

Oops. You are correct. I meant ‘Atlantic Sun’.

Because we’re all hoping Tom Sorenson writes another article on the subject.
